Awesome place, had visited multiple times... quite a awesome experience. The view of INS and the Taj at back drop is jaw drop experience.

A marvel standing on east side of Mumbai.
A legacy of indian monument with a symbolic exit of British from india from this point.
Stand in front of famous Taj palace hotel.
A must visit palace in Mumbai.
From this place you can have ferry to go at famous elephanta caves 1 hr journey or can just take a ride on ferrying sea.

I suppose you should make the time to see it, but it's crowded and noisy. If you're in the mood, it's kind of cool when there is a big celebration going on there.

Great to see this wonderful piece of history marking the arrival of The Monarch in India.

The place was buzzing with people and it provides a fabulous backdrop to the area. Well worth a visit.

Gateway of India is the iconic landmark that gives Mumbai its unique identity. Never deserted during the day, it comes alive in full glory in the evenings when singles, couples ,families, the young and the old descend upon the Apollo Bunder. The lights from the nearby Taj Mahal Hotel and the boats present a spellbinding sight. You also get ferry service to Elephanta caves from here, and a magnificent view of the Mumbai skyline on your way back.

The gateway commemorates the visit of King George V and Queen Mary to Bombay in the days of the Raj.

The area around the monument is secured and checks are made in entering the area.

Plenty of retail opportunities with the secured area. Note sure about their quality.

A bit of an anticlimax although lovely to be there I found the touts a bit boring as who needs there photos taken as everyone has a phone ! There are toilets by the entrance but hole in the floor type. Glad I went to see something so iconic. Also the Taj hotel is just opposite so you are viewing another iconic site.
