“Colaba Causeway is the place to shop on a saturday”
Reviewed March 3, 2014

This was our first visit to Mumbai, and we'd heard much about the shops on Colaba causeway road. It's a long stretch of street side shops which sell all kinds of stuff like shoes, casual wear clothes, knick knacks, accessories, vintage products etc.
You need to bargain hard at these shops and the best time to be here is on a saturday afternoon! Most of these accessories are what you get in places like Splash, Lifestyle etc at exorbitant costs. I picked up a 5 piece bracelet set for 150 bucks, and a similar looking set I'd bought from Aldo just a month ago for 800 bucks (it was on a discount, the original price being 1,200Rs !!). You cant make out the difference in quality though there may be some in reality.
I was advised not to buy clothes there because of quality and so I didnt. There are several cafes and restaurants along the way including the famous Leopald Cafe which we visited.
If you take a turn towards the sea, you will end up at Gateway of India and TajMahal Palace hotel which are both must see's.

Nice busy area with lots of shopping and resturants but not too much hassle. Lots of places to see and easy to walk around.

“Only one hour here is good enough”
Reviewed February 23, 2014

All there was is the Gate of India and seeing the Taj Mahal hotel with some opportunity to take pictures here. Only two hours is good enough

“Not a bad area to wander around, tourist central.”
Reviewed February 23, 2014

Good area to base yourself in, the most interesting sights are just to the north, though the night markets were decent and pleasantly un-touristy. In general we thought Mumbai was pretty relaxed and hassle-free.

“excellent neighborhood for everything!”
Reviewed February 22, 2014

I kept going back to this neighborhood during the weekend visit--- so much to do and see. Great for museums, and the weekend i was there, the neighborhood hosted an art festival that was playful and fun. Also prince of wales museum (new name now). Great restaurants and modern/fancy shops as well--- lots of choices.
