We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights and loved it! The location is perfect! Close to the mall and the airport. The service impecable! The food amazing! The breakfast excelletn, the room very good, what else would you like to know before staying there! The only thing that I have to tell is that is far away from the old city. Stay there if you want to be close to the airport. Less than 5 minuts by car. The only bad thing to say is that the air condicioner is set to be, it seems, 18 degrees Celcius. Too cold in the lobby and in the restaurants.

We had a stopover in Mumbai and decided to extend it to 3 days and stay at The Leela, mainly because of it's proximity to the airport.
Pros:
1. Good service, transfer from airport under 15 mins (from the new terminal 2 hardly 5 mins), Check In and Check Out very efficient with minimal bureaucracy.
2. Royal Club Lounge with "Happy Hours" and a variety of snacks and desserts at different times of the day - a very memorable experience. The staff in the lounge was extremely hospitable. This made the Royal Club room completely worth the price.
3. Delicious breakfast buffet including both Indian and Continental delicacies. We tried the Masala Dosa and Aapam and liked both a lot.
4. Very comfortable room, the bathroom was very spacious with both a shower and a bath tub.

Cons:
1. Lack of privacy at the pool.
2. The flush in our bathroom wasn't working when we checked in. After an hour of work by the plumber, we finally lost patience and asked for a change of room. At first, we were told that no room was available. When we said that this was unacceptable, an alternate room was quickly arranged but we were asked to carry our luggage from the old to the new room. We gladly did this, but found this weird after being promised a "24 hour butler service". The duty manager apologised to us about this incident at Check Out and promised to make amends next time. Since this was our only bad experience, we treat this as an aberration and still give The Leela 4 stars.

Room Tip: Royal Club Rooms with a pool view are the best.

I was here on a business trip for two nights, was given a room on the Non Smoking Floor but on entering my room I found a strong smell of cigarette, while the staff changed the room for me but something like this is nit expected from a super five star hotel like leela.
Positives:
1. Food...must try Jamavar
2. Spa...the beat spa i have been to, truly lives up to ESPA std
3. Location...if one has work closer to the airport or to take international connections

Negatives:
1. Staff...very un-friendly. There us a distinct difference between the younger n older staff. The trainee n the younger staff r very helpful n smiling while the older staff r completely the opposite.
2. Room... In the while room, there was only one phone charging point, which was in the toilet. Also, the writing pad was not changed by the housekeeping which was scribbled upon.

On the whole, if u stay here, do not miss the SPA.

The restaurants are fantastic, the smell of incense when you arrive still conjurers memories of my stay. The staff are excellent, the location from the airport due to arrival times is great.

True advantage the Hotel has in terms of being 5 minutes away from the new airport terminal.

The food and spa are also excellent!

Luxury, top quality service, attention to detail, etc are the things one associates with Leela or any other Luxury Hotels. BUT, thats not what you get at The Leela, Mumbai. The service is sloppy and rooms are run-down. My negative experience started from the moment you walk up to Reception, who took over 15 minutes to check-in, even budget hotels nowadays check you in - in under 5 minutes...the good ones will do the check-in at your room.

The rooms are small (maybe its Mumbai) but room is not at all modern day tech friendly, by that i mean that only plug/power points are on study table and none next to your bed-side...in the days were even every train seat has a power point its a little archaic of Leela.

I ate at there all day dining restaurant, which probably is the only good part. The food was good quality and the service was ok.

The only true advantage the Hotel has in terms of being 5 minutes away from the new airport terminal.

Travelers be aware! This hotel is not what it used to be ... now they just want your money and you get very little for return.
Foreign flights usually get very early morning, so you get to hotel around 2-3am. Even if you stay only until morning they would charge you full room price. I have found out from fellow traveler that they make on the most rooms "double harvest".
Hotel is expensive and -- rooms are small, air-conditioning unit is not sufficient and very noisy.
There are many "customer service personnel" everywhere but they are helpless ... 'coz they have to always go to "manager".
I stayed in this hotel 20+ times in last 10 years ... but I reconsidered my loyalty
