hello everyone,
I had been to jw mariot last year. My favorite hotel in Bombay. Awesome location and a great location to people watch in the late hours. The buffet is flat-out ridiculous (as many buffets in India are) and the location is really nice - right on the beach. The gym, pool, and spa are also the best I've been to in Bombay. Rumor has it that some Bollywood stars work out there in the ...

Right from the word go till the time of getting out of the Hotel Gate, every expereince was so nauseating. You dont like to receive this kind of service and treatment from a Big Name like this.

They have to learn the basics - simply close the hotel and make the top management to train the entire staff on behaviour, style, courtesy and attitude before they throw it open for guests.

Does not worth any review other than I would prefer to stay in the Airport to pass the night than staying in this place.

We stayed in Mumbai at the JW Marriott at the tale end of a 10-day tour of Rajasthan and environs, prior to leaving for a professional function SE of Mumbai the next day. The hotel is beautiful. The lobby area is huge and very attractive. We ate in the general (not specialty) restaurant, enjoying both the dinner and breakfast buffets. Both were palatial. My wife and I both left dinner groaning from how much we had eaten, simply because we had to try so many dishes representing cuisines from around the world. Of all the excellent buffets we experienced throughout our tour, this was likely the best. As well, the fitness center was world-class - enormous and very well-equipped with all varieties of weight training machines, barbell, dumbbells, and cardio machines. The pool area is also huge and gorgeous, one of the more attractive we've seen. And the hotel sits on the beach. Our room was well-appointed and pleasant, if by far the smallest of the rooms we had enjoyed in our 5-star hotel stays in the country. The room felt like a Marriott - perfectly comfortable but far from "exciting." Service was excellent.

The JW Marriott is an oasis of calm from the frenzied pace of Mumbai. Located on Juhu Beach and only a short distance from Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (BOM), every aspect of this hotel excels. All rooms overlook the beautiful pool and Arabian Sea. The rooms look to have been recently updated with new furnishings and though they are not huge, they do not feel tight either.
All public areas of the hotel are quite nice - from the wonderful view out of the 3 story windows in the Lotus Cafe of the pool area and the Arabian Sea to the well equipped fitness area.
I ate at the Lotus Cafe for breakfast and dinner and both times the meals were excellent, featuring a large array of asian and western food. The Italian restaurant, Mezzo Mezzo, was also quite good. My colleague and I each tried the tasting menu which gave small portions of several different appetizers and entrees.
Above all else, the service at this hotel is excellent. The front desk staff are eager to help in any way possible and genuinely care that you are staying at their hotel. All other staff - from the people cleaning your room to the doormen greet you with a friendly smile and hello. I also made use of the hotel's car and driver service and received a wonderful tour of the city from an extremely friendly driver, Prakash.
I stayed at this hotel for 6 nights in Jan and Feb 2009 during a work trip to visit some of my company's suppliers. After a long day battling the traffic in and around the city it was very nice to come back to such a comfortable, welcoming environment.
One last tip - make sure to take a morning walk along Juhu Beach, though you won't be alone, you will certainly gain a sense of calm listening to the gentle lap of the Arabian Sea on the shore.

We arrived at the airport at about 0130 hrs 13 Nov and were met by the pre booked car with out a hitch. We got to the hotel and although the reception was deserted I was immediately impressed by the attending staff and the security measures in place. As my husband was a member of the reward programme we were upgraded to a club room (440) which was wonderful! In the morning we went down to the pool area, the smell was so bad I don't even want to try and describe it, it brings bile into my throat just thinking about it...We had sore throats within 30 mins. Later that day we learnt that our trip to the Himalayas was cancelled, so all our time was spent on the Internet trying to rearrange the rest of the holiday by a day. We tried to use the in house travel service who to put it mildly were hopeless. The following day we flew to Delhi.
At the conclusion of our trip 28th Nov, we had been booked into the Taj Mahal Hotel but due to the troubles we were so convinced by the security measures we had previous experienced at the Marriott we had no hesitation in returning. The security was immense and very impressive. Snipers and sand bag defences at the front, explosive sniffer dogs, hand held metal detectors and passport checks before you even get through the gate. Army were patrolling the beach. I have never felt safer!!! The staff were great and kept us regularly updated with security issues, and were really concerned about the guests welfare.
On a down side, the spa was a major disappointment, and due to the fact we were pretty much confined to the hotel, we booked several treatments in the spa at considerable cost... there was so much noise from workmen it was impossible to relax and when we arrived early in order to unwind prior to treatment the staff weren't interested and just brought our treatment time forward.
I would have no hesitation in going back to the Marriott but would avoid the spa.
The restaurants "Saffron" (Indian) and "Spices" (Asian) were ok but expensive.
