The guests visit us every winter, and one should go there as early in the morning as possible ( before 7 am) to get to see them up close near the shore. As the day ascends they recede away from the shores and after late mornings they can be seen better only through a pair of binoculars. Sad part is that the swamp these magnificent creatures crash into is polluted day in and day out, killing all insect population in it, hence due to lack of entomo meal the wingers sometimes while coming from ukraine and other parts of europe, cancel mumbai from their itenary and have been sighted moving straight to bhuj for breeding . after watching the flamingos one should also visit the sewri fort just close to the jetty, it is a little unmanaged but worth a visit.
P.S.- do not go there without a pair of binoculars/ a camera with good zoom, If u r a girl/ child do not go alone as the place is very isolated and could be unsafe.

The view of endless sea from the tip of the jetty and long stretches of mangroves along the seashore

Its famous for its Flamingo's. the road leading to the jetty is rough and uneven, a crude road.Sewri is famous for its "Dry Fish" and most Mumbaikars shop for dry fish at Sewri. In recent years the "B.N.H.S(Bombay Natural History Society) " set the trend of conducting occasional early morning bird watching for tourists at the Sewri jetty to observe the migratory Flamingo birds. Its unbelievable to watch groups of Flamingo's feeding in the shore sand during low tide, these birds being migratory visitors to the city.
