“Overrated!”
Reviewed October 13, 2012 via mobile

I was suggested this restaurant as a must visit but was put off mainly because it's in a great location and the earlier restaurant / joint that existed there was far better.
I have eaten better food then what they served there. The drinks were ok.
Certain basics that they can definitely correct -
Have ashtrays if you have a smoking area.
It's anyway hot and humid in mumbai and its great that you are displaying art, but keep the focus lamps away from humans seating area.
Your pastry chef is really good!
Tie the seats to the chairs, they come off when you slide in and out.
Menu knowledge for the waiters pls.

“Yummy food!”
Reviewed October 9, 2012 via mobile

The best food in the whole of Mumbai! The chef certainly has created a fine menu and all dishes have their own special touch. The service was so so friendly and attentive. A little pricey but a great get away to treat yourself.

“Fine dining off the beaten path”
Reviewed August 9, 2012

There is a distinct lack of quality fine-dining places in Mumbai outside of the Starred hotels. Bungalow 9 came as a welcome addition to the Mumbai food scene. There is ample variety of gastronomic options, from starters till desserts. The ambience is quite charming, and the place is definitely worth visiting and sitting outside in the cooler months. Some of combinations in the menu seemed questionable on paper, but came together very well on the plate and were pleasing to the palate.

Do try the daily specials - they are usually worthy of the title.

Pricing is on the higher side, but the place still beats some more expensive starred hotel restaurants when it comes to quality of the food.

“Charming place, awesome food, a tad expensive!”
Reviewed July 26, 2012

I have been planning to eat at Bunglaow 9 since 300 years! Each time I plan, something goes wrong. A shame considering it is barely 3 km from my house. When it came to meeting close friends for a catching-up dinner, I was determined to make it work.

The restaurant is in a quiet lane in the charming suburb of Bandra West. The rains gave the place a very cosy feel. The first relief was the availability of valet parking. A relief in a parking-spot-deprived city like Bombay!

We made a reservation for 9 PM and were there right on time. We were immediately ushered to our table. It was a rainy evening and hence, the restaurant was not very full. I already had a long list of recommendations. We started with the Bungalow 9 House Salad (Veg). It was awesome! With fresh green leaves, baby tomatoes and freshly sliced pears, it was healthy and tasty. We also had their zucchini starter, which came with a yummy red sauce. Again, super! For the main course, we had the Goat Cheese Pizza, fresh from their clay over. It was crispy and delicious. We also had the Sri Lankan curry with Jasmine Rice. It wasn't very different from the yellow Thai Curry so we wondered what was Sri Lankan about it! But extremely delicious, whatever it may be called! For desert, we had the Blueberry and Hazelnut With White Chocolate. I will have to look up the dictionary to find adjectives for it! It was gooey, delicious and simply melted in the mouth. But it was extremely heavy! 3 of us could not finish one portion of it!

The place isn't cheap. The average cost per person, including Service Charge (Which they add to the bill @ 10%), taxes etc, was about 1,200 Rupees per person. NOT CHEAP! Just wish it was a little better priced and then, it would've gotten a full 5 stars from me. That would've made me go there more often. For now, it will have to be for those rare occasions when you want to spend on a dinner.

“great continental-italian food, cozy ambience”
Reviewed July 19, 2012

very very nice restaurant in bandra, it is quite big but also quiet, and with a relaxed, cozy ambience

the food is a mix of continental and italian and is very tasty: as appetizers we tried the zucchini with parmesan cheese (very good) and the sun dried tomato arancini with provolone (FABULOUS)

as main corse, the sage cooked chicken breast, that came with a delicious english brioche with pumpkin dices and mushroum cream. exceptional!

for desserts we tired the tiramisu, quite good, and the chocolate volcano, definately worth the 20 minutes waiting

3 people, no alcol, around 1500rs each: quite expensive but worth the quality of food and service
