Today we enjoyed their flying buffet for lunch. It is a lovely concept where the food is brought to us in mini portions & served as much as we are able to eat. This way no food is wasted while we can eat to our heart's content. The menu had Continental and Spanish food which is also not so commonly served.
The service was excellent as food came in the right moment while we were ready for more. The staff are also very friendly and attentive.
After a number of visits to this place, we find it quite addictive

I was pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere, service and quality of the food at this restaurant. It was my first visit and I wasn't disappointed.

Located inside the NCPA theatre complex, this elegant dining spot is a gem; a bit pricey but far lss than what you would pay in a 5-star hotel restaurant. The menu offers an exotic blend of Continental, Middle Eastern and Thai cuisine. Almost all the dishes are uniformly delicious and well presented. The portions are not too big, but quite adequate for one. The owner/chef, Farrokh Khambatta is quite a celebrity on the Mumbai fine dine circuit and he does not disappoint. The menu changes periodically, so you gan go often without getting bored. Oh, and the desserts are to die for.

Go to Amadeus, if you want to try a different fusion food.

Amadeus is sometimes confused with the Cafe at National Center for Performing Arts, since both share a common precinct. The Cafe which is a casual dining space, faces the bay at the back, while Amadeus has its entrance from the sea front at Nariman Point, all the way at the south end of Bombay's Marine Drive.

Amadeus is an upmarket restaurant which caters not only to the audience who come to the theater complex of the National Center for Performing Arts, but also to the more discerning diners in South Bombay. Reservations are a must, even on week days, and most certainly for both the 8pm & 10pm seating on weekends. The valet parking helps, specially on evenings when some important performance is scheduled in one of the theaters, when one can't find parking around Nariman Point on Bombay's famous Marine Drive for love or money.

The restaurant has a cool dark lobby, and you are led to your table in a long dining area. There is Al-fresco seating also available, but it is often reserved for parties.A separate bar cum lounge, often serves as a waiting area for those brave souls who come without reservations. The furniture is dark wood. The strait back chairs are appreciated by all of us who are 50+years of age, and don't enjoy our eating our food off low tables, sitting slouched in short-backed sofas.

The wine list is extensive and expensive. Your wine waiter is well informed, and happy to offer you a taste of the vintage before you order. The good part is that some of the wines, sold by the bottle, are also available by the glass, even if they are not so listed on the wine list. You have but to ask.

The food is uniformly good. The starters, both vegetarian and non vegetarian, are unusual. I recommend the beer batter corn clumps: my all time favourite. The Hamas with versions of Tahini, the unusual thin crust pizzas, are other interesting options.

The main courses are substantial. I've had excellent jumbo prawns and fish , both of which are available in various styles. The chicken peri-peri is also distinctive.

Try the seasonal deserts which are separately shown on a small menu that stands on your table. The other night, when we ate, it was built around Alfonso mango: a delicately flavoured mango variety that grows only on the Malabar coast between Bombay & Goa. Your waiter will be happy to set out additional plates in case you wish to share the dessert with others in your group.

An 8% service charge is added to the bill. In Bombay, if not elsewhere elsewhere in India, it is customary to tip 10%. Therefore if you slip in the extra 2%, the smiling waiter smiles even more.

Great outdoor seating, dim lighting, fresh air beckons you. I loved sitting under the huge umbrellas. The menu is varied and one can call it a world menu. I think it is designed to be easy and to appeal to varied palettes. The Kho Suey, a burmese noodle dish, was excellent and the best that I have ever eaten. The butter prawns were easy as well. For dessert, I had Mascarpone Torte with fresh fruits which was divine!!
