We went to the Clearing House after nearly a year!! No change in the menu! They had a private party going on in the inside- but good music- we ordered the beetroot salad- not too good and the lotus stem fritters - very delicious as starters- for the main course we had the spaghetti- very nice and the ravioli- not too great!! And for the dessert - the carrot cake- nice- will have to think again before venturing there !!

The Clearing House is a mixed bag of a review. A place tucked away in one of the numerous bylanes still reminiscent of colonial Bombay, it has all the features of any high street/upmarket diner anywhere.
The ambiance is excellent and the service courteous and efficient.
The drawback is the food. I’ve given this place two trials with multiple groups of friends and family so as to cover as many items in the menu as I could. And I noticed that the primary issue is the lack of freshness of the meat. Lamb, beef, seafood, all suffered from the same issue.
The desserts were spot on.
Beer menu needs to be revamped big time.
Come on folks, put some life into your food or risk a shut down!

Finally made it to clearing house. Another tick of my bucket list.

✔️ Recommend dishes :

1) ARUGULA AND GREEN APPLE SALAD : One of the best salads I have had till date. Sweet and simple.
The Sherry sesame dressing took the dish to another level.

2) AVOCADO ON SORGHUM TOAST : Fresh Avocado, Salsa, Goat Cheese and a Truffle Egg (poached beautifully) on toast. Beautiful flavours must have at least one of the avocado dishes on their menu.

3) UDON NOODLES : Silky noodles with broccoli, corn and edamame. Served with an amazing coconut and lemon grass broth. The broth changed the complete texture of the dish.

4) 70% CHOCOLATE NAMELAKA : A lovely combination of chocolate sorbet, chocolate ginger soil, dehydrated chocolate mousse and jaggery caramel shard's. Not too sweet on the pallette just how I like it.

5) RED WINE SANGRIA : Beautiful red wine in which the flavour of the fruits were well infused.

6) PORCINI AND ASSORTED MUSHROOM FLATBREAD : Less of a flatbread more of a khakhra with lovely mushrooms and goats cheese. Mushroom lovers this dish is calling out your name.

SCOPE FOR IMPROVEMENT

1) SPINACH AND CORN QUESADILLAS : Spinach, cheese and corn stuffing accompanied with salsa, sour cream and avocado. Quite basic.

2) HONEY FLAN : Honey infused custard, served with figs, sour cherry and a homemade granola concoction. Presentation no doubt was top notch (MasterChef Quality). Wish it tasted the same way.

Food : 4.5/5 (top notch)
Service : 4.5/5 (on point at all times)
Ambience :4/5 (nice touches)
Pricing : 3/5 (quite heavy on the wallet)

Worth visiting once atleast for the quality of food and service.

What was meant to be a relaxing Sunday lunch with friends was spoilt by a function where the music was so load that it spoilt it for all. It is not fair to expect lunch patrons to be impacted by an extreme party in the next room.... just not on. Service and food was good but spoilt by a private function.... be aware and check first.

The Clearing House - Same team which gave us Indigo. Nitin Kulkarni - take a bow. Amazing place. Fantastic vibe and great food. Spread over 4000 sq ft this place has its own charm. Husna Jumani (ex Ellipsis) has done a good job with their desserts. Sunday Brunch - Fantastic. Just relax with some great cocktails and good food. Location - Ballard estate Behind Port trust.

We were invited for the la carte Sunday Brunch - here is what we had.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Started with - Aperol Spritz (wine cocktail) served as an aperitif in North Italy. Prosecco being the primary alcohol by volume. Lovely refreshing with Orange wedge. Perfect for a Mumbai weather and the lazy Sunday.

Jamun Martini - another lovely cocktail made with fresh Jamun (one can get the rusty texture taste) beautifully balanced at the same time refreshing. Do order this. Presented in a martini glass with Jamun as a garnish.

Avocado and Cranberry Salad - simple yet classy. It's again a perfect balance of The Subtle avocado and Tangy cranberry. Baby spinach looks good with orange peppy dressed well. A bit of pomegranate pieces and peppy seeds. Overall Fresh and apt for summer. Full marks.

Asparagus and Green Apple salad - wow. This is must have. It's all about balancing the elements. Shaved Fennel, Green apple. Julienne (matchstick) thin strips of apple and asparagus a bit of mango (I guess) dressed in Low fat yogurt and a bit of pepper. Loved the texture and the taste. A bit of pepper hit was enough.

Scarlet - another drink served in a champagne glass. It's basically a combination of sparkling wine with a bit of pomegranate juice and fresh pomegranate. Madewell.

Spinach and Kale Frittata - my first take on this dish at the clearing house. Frittata is an Italian dish with fried beaten eggs, resembling a Spanish omelette. Light fluffy. Here the chef has made like an Omelette. One can even do a Quiche. Kale and spinach on top. Just add a bit of pepper and good to go. Full marks. Italian all the way. Not to forget the Gruyere, feta and ricotta added. Baked to perfection. Its rich, loaded with calories at the same time light.

Living the dreams - another cocktail. This had a lovely Ginger hit to it. Use of Aperol and blend of grapefruit was perfect. This is their signature cocktail.

Pimm's Cup - so British. It's a mix of Pimm's No 1 and cut fruits. Summer drink. Go for it.

Chilli Three Cheese melt sandwich - took a bit of time to be served but on the table it looked good. Can't call it a chili cheese toast. They have used Sourdough bread for the sandwich. Stuffed with diced Bell peppers (3 types) onions/Chilli/jalapeno/herbs and 3 types of cheese (Emmental/Gruyere/Parmesan) lots of butter. Tasted good. Served with house salad. Rocket/pomegranate/Sweet lime. Go for this.

Potato and Corn Pancakes - Dish of the day. Presentation fantastic. Beautifully done small pancakes stuffed with mashed potatoes and corn and a bit of onions with herbs and spices. Topped with baby carrots/asparagus/Edamame. Served with Radish Sour cream. Not heavy. Texture perfect. Taste Subtle. One could get the sweetness of the potato and corn. Lovely golden brown.

Mimosa - Champagne and citrus here they used orange juice. Chilled served in champagne glass. Also known as wine cocktail. Normally served neat without ice with a bit of Orange twist. Bartender did a lovely job.

We had one more Brunchy to come. In the meantime we got our desserts -

DOUGHWICH, the best I have had in recent times. Count the calories on Sunday. It's all about some good doughnut freshly baked stuffed with peanut butter/Belgium chocolate and meringue. Kudus to the dessert chef. Sprinkle of Sugar. Polished the entire dessert.

Truffle Mushroom Brioche - Much awaited dish arrived. Looked good. Baked the sourdough bread fresh. Now this is again baked when they top it with Brie. Use of Prochini and Prochini Tapenade gives a strong and complex flavour. Fig salad gave a bit of sweetness and balanced the dish. Served with home salad.

Last but not the least - BLUEBERRY PANCAKE - could have been a bit fluffy/light but Lemon curd was outstanding. Balance of Vanilla mascarpone/blueberry compote/crushed meringue went well. Had that sweet/tangy taste. Edible flower as a garnish. Colourful dish. Picture perfect.

Overall - what do I say? No flaws.
