Had breakfast here during my recent stay at the Taj Palace Hotel. The breakfast spread is extensive, very international and theres a lot of buzz at breakfast, just like in hotels abroad. But we didnt find too much variety for vegetarians. Service is OK but the waiters seem quite hassled. Muffins were good!

Had a Saturday brunch. Don't really have much to say, an excellent layout, super salads and super desserts. The rest of the food was also excellent. Nothing much to fault. The only reason I am giving it overall 'Very Good' instead of 'Excellent', is because the prices have gone up quite a bit since I was last here. But I would say worth it.

Myself and my partner are backpacking around the world but decided that when we were in Mumbai we would treat ourselves to doing some special at the Taj Mahal Palace. We opted for the buffet breakfast as we haven't had a decent brekkie since really being in India. We were treated like royalty from the moment we stepped out of our taxi and all throughout our breakfast experience. The staff engaged in conversation with us even though we weren't staying at the hotel and made us feel just like we were 5 star paying guests. The breakfast buffet included everything from an egg station, Indian breakfast, pastries, waffles, cheese, porridge, fresh fruit juices and tea and coffee plus more. It is expensive at £40 for 2 people and we probably wouldn't usually pay this but it was worth it for the experience. It may not have been the best buffet breakfast we have ever had but it wasn't far off and it was lovely to just help yourself to whatever you wanted. Just to be in a nice setting and a 5 star hotel as backpackers was great. Oh and we stuffed our faces for 2 hours with breaks in between and they didn't seem to mind at all which is an added bonus. A real treat that I recommend everyone enjoys!!

It is very common for cruise ships stay in Mumbai for 1 or 2 days. A good suggestion is to visit the Taj Mahal Hotel in Colaba district. There are many dining options on site, but to feel the atmosphere of the hotel and not spend too much, a good tip is to have lunch at the Shamiana. It's basically a 24-hour cosmopolitan food restaurant, but with a great Indian buffet. The service is perfect and the place is very nice. A good idea is to start ordering the delicious samosa. Try also the fantastic chicken biryani. After lunch you can wander by the shopping arcade and don’t forget to take a peek at the beautiful pool.
