I honestly stayed at 3 hostals in Mumbai because I was careless enough to arrive there with no reservations. I can say that this is one good hostal. You get a locker in which your bag-pack can fit in so you really do not have to worry about your belongings. The staff are extremely friendly. I wanted to do a city tour and they found another guest to join me so that we could both save money (if there are two people doing the tour the price per person is reduced). They also arranged buses and trains for another guest that I met. And got a good price for airport drop-off even though I was not staying at the hostal the night before. Clean, with toilet being separated from shower.
I would definitely recommend!!

For the money you can't complain, Mumbai is very expensive compared to the rest of India. The guy at reception was very friendly and helpful. The rooms are basic and mine had not much natural light but the ac was quiet and has tv and hot water. Good for meeting other westerners, close to ct station. There is a restaurant just at the end of the street called café universal where there is good food and beer.

Room Tip: Maybe ask to see a few rooms if possible. I know some rooms have good natural light from the photos.

We thought this hotel was fairly decent compared to other places we looked at in Mumbai for the same sort of price. It's located in the Fort area which is a fairly quiet district in Mumbai, on a nice leafy side street. You can walk to most of the main attractions from the hotel in around 20 minutes.
Room was basic but comfortable, hot water worked at all times, air con was good.
The hotel did breakfast but there wasn't really anywhere to eat it apart from your room so we had breakfast outside of the hotel each day. There is a place next door that does good breakfasts and other food too.
We arrived at 6am off a night train and couldn't check in until around 11am. That's totally fair enough but the problem was that the hotel didn't really have a nice area where you could sit and wait. There were quite a few travellers arriving early or leaving for night trains/buses so we really think the place would benefit from a nice communal area.
Staff were ok but always seemed put out if we asked them something.
Having said that, it's still a good budget choice in a city where everything is quite expensive (compared to the rest of India).

We stayed here for 4 nights on our first trip to Mumbai due to a pack of budget-midrange options with good reviews.

Pros:
- cheap, affordable
- very friendly and helpful staff who spoke good english
- good wifi
- computer and printer services
- is pretty much exactly as pictured

CONS
- weak water pressure and variable hot water flow
- toilet flush does not work well, often needed to use buckets of water
- AC +/- fan can be very loud and impede sleep
- hallway noise can also often ve loud
- very thin mattress makes sleeping quite uncomfortable
- bedding and towels have old marks on them

So overall it depends on your standards and what you can deal with. We found the staff were quite open and willing to try help us when we needed.

Great location, excellent staff, everyone very helpful, wifi was working in my room but only until midnight, apart from that everything else was very good :)
You can walk to pretty much everything, good street food and a good restaurant around the corner
Good breakfast too
Recommended :)

Room Tip: Choose aircon room, it's a must :)

Excellent location, really nice staff. The rooms are kept clean, great value for your money.
The location of the hotel is at walking distance from Gateway of India and the shopping area
and is really peacefull in the evenings.

I travelled solo and the staff took really good care of me and had great tips on where to go and
what to see.

We stayed in this hostel foror first night in Mumbai and first night in India. We booked a pick up from the airport in advance.unfortunately we could not spot the pick-up-guy at one and we were tricked by an official looking man.he offered us to call the hostel and find out about the pick up.he dialled and even gave me the phone to talk to the "travellers inn".the person on the phone said that the pick up already left because we were late.so the guy got us a taxi and even told us the hostel was not good, he would have a better hostel for us.luckily we did insisted on travellers inn.the taxi did cost us twice the price of the pick up service.when we arrived at the hostel we were told that the pick up was still waiting for us and they did not receive any phone call.
The hostel:
The manager was very very helpful.he helped us plan our India trip and even bought the tickets (bus and flight)for us. he gave us useful tips for Mumbai.and we had the chance to leave our luggage in the hostel till the evening of the departure-day.
Although the bathroom was simple compared to European standard.we did feel very save in the hostel!
The hostel is literally in the centre of Mumbai.within walking distance of port of India, taj Mahal palace and main-train station.
All in all it was a very good start for or trip and a nice shelter in loud and dirty Mumbai.
