“Good sea food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 4, 2013

I had got raving reviews about the seafood at Mahesh Lunch home from my parents who ate here on their previous visit to Mumbai. Thus a visit to Mahesh was top of my list on my last visit to Mumbai.

This branch is located in an inner street in the Fort area and was quite close to the hotel we were putting up in. The surroundings are not anything to write about. We reached early for dinner so we did not have to wait to get a table.

The waiter recommended that we have the Bombay Duck fry while we waited for our mains to arrive. This dish was OK - we also tried Gajalee's version during the same trip which was much better! For the main course we had crab meat (without shell) in butter pepper garlic and prawns hari mirchi. Both the dishes were outstanding. The neer dosas were very good too,

I tried Sol Kadi which has been recommended in many of the reviews but did not really like it. Would have preferred to have a coke or fresh lime instead. For two people the bill came to Rs 2500/- including taxes (they include a 10% service charge).

Would visit again during future trips to Mumbai.

amazing food.... loved the Prawn biryani. Though it’s a bit far from my place…. But it was worth a drive. All sea food lovers must try in once!

“Homely food & comfort”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 18, 2013

It's famous for its sea food but they have also developed expertise in chicken & mutton dishes. Don't forget to taste theri bombil(bombay duck) fry & other fish items. Solkadi is very good.

“Taste the west coast”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 14, 2013

The west coast of India is long, and the food varies as you move north from southern Kerala to Malabar to Mangalore thence to Goa and the Konkan. Though varied, there is a binding theme which is well captured in Mahesh Lunch Home. Sea food can be enjoyed in all its delicate flavors, spiced up in the west coast style, with a preference for the Mangalorean. We went to their place in Juhu. It has a nice ambience though crowded at times, with people waiting to occupy your tables, giving a slight sense of hurry.
