Hotel Suncity Apollo, Mumbai
Ranked #307 of 456 Hotels in Mumbai (Bombay)
Reviewed January 11, 2009

Stayed 1 night at the Apollo Hotel (which is also reviewed on Tripadvisor as Apollo Guesthouse) on our last stop before leaving India. This was only per chance as we had originally booked at Suba Palace, but when we arrived they were fully booked (?!), so we were walked along to Apollo Hotel, 10m from Suba.
It is supposed to be more expensive than Suba Palace, which confused us a bit as the rooms and the overall standard of the hotel looked rather tired and dated. Not as smart as fx. the Suba Palace reception area.
So, to the Apollo review: reception area nice and clean, kept in iceblue colours, free newspapers and water (out of tap) and nice enough staff. We were given a king size bed room on fourth floor, overlooking the side street, so not much noise.
Bed was some sort of foam thing, not really comfy, the bed spread had a lot of stains and some rips, so made us doubt how clean it was. The room itself was not clean, with loads of long black hairs on the floor of both room and bathroom. It had a fridge (good) and a safe without a key (pointless) and satelite tv. Really, it had everything you need but it was just not in good condition.
BUT it had hot water and after travelling in India, it was amazing to have a hot shower, so big plus point there.
They also have a breakfast room with a very limited sortiment of paratha, pineapple and toast and bizarrely enough, this room use to be a bedroom so the bed and the bedside lamps were still there. Quite funny ;-)
Overall, the Apollo Hotel is just a basic room to sleep, keep your bags and have a hot shower, but it is not really a place you want stay and relax in.
So, why book? The price charged was INR 4200, which is cheap for Mumbai and the location was perfect, in the middle og Coloba, just behind the Taj Mahal hotel and Gateway of India.
If you are looking for a place to crash for a few nights while sightseeing Mumbai, this is a good enough option, but don't expect too much.

The location of the hotel is very good. nor far from the india gate and other turist attractions. The problem was that the room wasn't very clean and the bed sheets with hair!!! Breakfast average.
