Centrally located, clean, modern, efficiently run, expensive. However, if you want to be a block away from the Gateway to India, boats to Elephanta Island, the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, and the myriad number of tourist attractions/museums/etc. in downtown Mumbai then this is the spot to stay and this is the price you have to pay.

Room Tip: Get a room AWAY from Landsown Road, it's busy and noisy all night with blaring horns. Ask for Room #403 if you're booking online.

We thought we were going to another "Apollo" Hotel but ended up booking here by accident. Fortunately it was only for one night. The location is good but the service and noise from the club is bad, especially for the price.

If you want to save some money and enjoy a better price/quality hotel, i suggest you go to the hotels directly next to the Taj Mahal Palace on the beach. First of all, you have better view there. Second, the Apollo is too epensive for what they offer. Rooms are not clean, everything outdated, not worth the price whatsoever. Staff is friendy though.

We spend 2nights at the beginning of my first trip to India and 4nights before we left India. The first time round we checked in at 2am and everything was quick and easy but the room given to us was on first floor next to staff quarters which was very smelly outside the room. It did not bother me too much as we only used the room to shower and sleep and store our luggage. The bathroom was clean but the bath had some kind of stain in it and the shower was not very easy to use and the hot water kept being switched off or something. I was not impressed with the standard of the bathroom even though this was a 2/3 star hotel. It was quiet pricey -+INR5000 per night.
But it has the best location ever. Just a few feet away is the main road of the causeway and lots of taxis and buses to take you anywhere u want and its cheap. Just a block away is the famous Leopolds Cafe and Cafe Mondegar. barista coffee shop and All day coffee shops are just around the corner as well. Atm's and cinema around the corner as well. Also there is a large numbe rof restaurants close to hotel. Hotel does laundry which is very cheap. Close to India Gate and Taj Mahal Hotel. The hotels in-house restaurant..well i didn't like it. The dinning area where we were seated for breakfast our first day was dingy and dark and had few tables. Some people ended up sitting in the lounge chairs having their cereals. I don't think the chefs were very familiar with making a sunny side up egg coz it came back totally raw with albumin floating ontop of egg. Coffee was tasteless and we ended up having just toast. Another couple also found their breakfast to me very limited and had toast as well. I never used the restaurant again for any meals. Always ate out. On my return, i asked for a better room and this time it was 3 of us staying for a longer time to finish our shopping. We were given the room on 5th floor which was a rooftop room which was a massive room to sleep 4 and could easily fit another 2 double beds. The beds have a thin foam which really coaused my back to ache and had very uncomfortable sleeps. However the bathroom was in a much better condition than the one we had when we first arrived. The reception staff were very helpful to us. on our last day we had to checkout at 12noon and our flight was only 2.30 next morning, we asked if we could use the room for the day and they only charged us for half day and we stayed until 10pm until we were fresh to leave for the airport.
Hotel is also very close to the museum and art gallery.

The hotel also has free internet service 24/7

if you have met the rudest people on the planet, come meet the ones at reception of Apollo and you shall forgive all the rest.

Rudeness: None on this planet can beat those at the reception on this ultimate quality of being obscenely rude.
Room: Room ends even before it starts.
View out side the window: Most intricately designed bird droppings on the Air Conditioners Outdoor unit.
Bathroom: you shall have to fiddle to get into the tub, watch the space between the platform an the glass sliding.
Tub: Spacious enough for you 3 year old kids.. One keeps wondering whether the tub is small or that we've overgrown overnight.
TV: One of the most antique items ... i heard the aboriginal people stopped using Cathode Ray Tubes even in the jungles....
Air Conditioners : Dare you put it one after 2300 hrs.. an u'd be assured of having a humming lullaby being sung all night.
FOOD: Breakfast served we guess is a direct competition to the Artic Ice.. At 0900 hrs,, the bowls in which foodstuff were kept were empty and had to literally lift them so that u could get the chilled sambar in the spoon..
USP:Location : Bademiyan is just 50 walking steps... Cafe Mondegar is 30 walkin steps...Gateway of India is on walking distance....
Occupancy : only 3 unlucky families were with us in the same hotel.. co-incidentaly all of us were discussing the same issues.
Passageways: 3 feet wide, not ventilated at all hence were smelly an steaming.
value for money: Horrible experience considering the 6000 bucks spent per night only on accomodation.

Room Tip: a lot of other hotel options available
