“Awful service very frustrating”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 15, 2014 via mobile

We have been in India for 10 weeks and stayed in lots of hotels in this price bracket. The service here was awful. No one spoke good English so things were often lost, different food delivered, no one getting back to us, in the restaurant the waiters were having to use one of the cleaners to translate!

The first thing was that they put up posters stating the breakfast times, and breakfast is written on their facilities and services section on the promotional leaflet at reception; at no point were we told breakfast was not included and also when asking at the restaurant what was included for breakfast they said anything (also heard them telling others that breakfast was included), anyway you guessed it, it wasn't included. They didn't take my complaint well either.

Also had no hot water on 3 of the 4 mornings we stayed there. We phoned and asked for it and they managed to arrange it, but it wasn't easy to get it.

I wouldn't recommend this hotel it's far to expensive for what you get; also all restaurant prices are plus VAT so our check out bill was a lot. Our room was 2075 RS for the cheapest room.

The room it's self was nice with a fridge and good TV. But that was its only saving grace.

We thoroughly enjoyed our three night stay and would recommend this hotel to anyone travelling around Mysore. A gateway to the city centre and merely a few hundred metres from the majestic palace, this characterful hotel was a family favourite. The rooms are well layed out, spacious, clean and comfy, whilst the service and restaurant had a friendly vibe and left myself and my good family satisfied and relaxed. A good value hotel with an intriguing layout and enjoyable atmosphere, not to mention some beautiful views over the city from the rooftop balcony.

Perhaps because it had been built up by the Lonely Planet, this place really did not meet expectations. Reception staff's English was really poor, the room was dark, soul-less and really noisy at night when the constantly moving elevator kept us awake. They are intended to be helpful of course but there are signs literaly everywhere for everything around the hotel which make it really quite ugly and actually rather than making things clearer, just complicates and confused us. In trying to switch the lights on we touched a master switch and were without power in our room for 3 hours. It is very well located but in our opinion, lacks any character and left us completely cold.

Room Tip: Not sure how to get a good room. Ours was awful and had a view of a blank wall.

We enjoyed our 2 nights in this quite unusual looking hotel. The rooms were clean and comfortable, so it represented what we expected for the price. On arrival we were each given a small toiletary bag as a gift, but we were charged for the internet access which seemed a bit petty (though the speed was very good as a result!).

We were less impressed by the restaurant which was very noisy and a little expensive for the quality of the food.

This place is a really good value when you're looking for some comfort and facilities. It got a small Jaccuzi on the rooftoop, a Restaurant with a good variety of dishes/cuisines and they're serving BEER and other alco drinks :-) The Hotel is centrally located and the Service is reaching western-like Standards. A Little minus for the cold shower and the chargeable WiFi!

Hotel Location:
This hotel is located on the Sri Harsha Hotel, just opposite to one of the Gates (Jaya Vijaya) of the world famous Mysore Palace.
This is the major advantage of this hotel, strategically located at the center of Mysore where the action happens around this Area, you can loaf around in the evenings and take a walk down the famous DD Urs road for all your buys.

Hotel Parking:
There is no covered park available in this hotel, there is a limited space for cars, so make sure you keep the Security guys in good terms to get a place to park your car in front of the hotel, else you will have to park the same on the road.

Hotel Rooms:
I keep frequently visiting this place at least 2-3 times in year when I do not get the accommodation in my club in Mysore; they have kept the quality cleanliness of the rooms the same when it was 2 – 3 years back. But the continuous usage of tourists is taking its toll on the bed linen and the toilets. The bed spreads used have started to fade and are turning brown in color, when it was brought to the notice of the house keeping, they did not mind changing it. The toilet fittings really require a round of change as the shower does not work properly, apart from these minor ones, there is nothing much to talk bad about the rooms.

Hotel Restaurant:
The moment you enter this open air restaurant, for a minute you feel like that you are really in Mysore, as it is mostly frequented by the Firangs / Goras, as the beer served is quiet famous.
As a vegetarian looking out for good food did not thrill me to have food here more than once as I felt the taste of the food has been fine tuned to serve more for the western travelers.

Hotel Staff:
I could see a major change in the ATTITUDE with the staff right from the Reception, as there were no formal greetings, and he was looking like a man who has over worked welcoming like an unwanted guest. I had requested for a King size bed to be made as my kid was also with me, yet he allotted me a twin bedded room, later I had to call up the house keeping staff and request them to join the beds and make it double bedded, I do not whether the man at the front office even has some basic send as to how can he allot me a twin bedded room, as I was checking with my family. This problem of lethargic service / attitude issue even peculates to the staff at the restaurant, as the time taken to cater people was horrible. This attitude issue has to be resolved by the management ASAP, else it will be a problem on the long run.

Overall:
Considering the strategic location & the price charged of the hotel, it’s a win win situation to stay here, but I could find that Mysore now has more options for the same Tariff, which can be explored.

Room Tip: Nothing works here, as you are at the mercy of the person allotting the room

Situated a stone's throw from Mysore Palace (you can see it if you go up onto the roof, & if you're lucky you'll see the several thousand lightbulbs which cover its surface lit up). Circular interior set 'in the round', & rooms are generally clean & comfortable. Good restaurant. Pool/bar area on the top floor which is partially in the open.
