I have seen many Monasteries in Northern india including the Great one at Mcleodganj, where Dalai Lama stays. (near Dharamshala) and many more. But I never expected that such a big monastery will be there in South India. This Namdroling monastery is in Karnataka state, in coog district, close to Kushal nagar. it is indeed a very beautiful and very neatly maintained in a very big area ( Photos attached) where young monks are getting trained having their living quarters in the same complex.

There were lots of tourists visiting the complex when I went there with my wife and some of her friends in May-2019 . There is no entry ticket. there is a big parking area for cars and buses. there are shops also inside the complex which attract the tourists.

This is an amazing Tibetian monastery with excellent art engraved walls. It's really a worthy place to visit. Ashtonishingly a whole lot of Tibetian population well settled here at this place. Overall a good place that you can enjoy with the Kids. you can click a lot of pictures as well. Car Parking would be a little difficult as its little outside of the place, but not hard to find.

Its one of the crowded temples in that area and extremely well frequented. You could try for parking on the ground opposite the vast open parking (this fills up fast but its more well organised). As you enter you see three huge dieties, the place is very peaceful. you feel good when you go there.
the large courtyard inside offers a about 3 to 4 restaurants and a fair amount of shopping for tibetan wares.
We went in the afternoon and that particular day was really sultry. post temple visit we went to 'THUPKEN'(in the courtyard within the temple premise) i hope i got this small cafe's name right!
It serves only VEG and is a MUST try! the best best veg momos i had. Hot chocolate was extremely well made too. The mint and lemon juice is sooooo refreshing on a hot summer's day!!!
