“Atop the hill”
Reviewed June 17, 2014

The location of the temple atop the Chamundi Hill is awesome. The ascent by any vehicle is an enjoyable one.
The temple actually is not at the peak of the hill.
The famous Mahishasura statue is the first one that welcomes you when you start walking towards the temple.

“A shrine to visit”
Reviewed June 11, 2014

A treat for any God luving/fearing person.
The temple with sculpting are very gud.
Neatness is an issue to be addressed.
Just a bend thru the hills, the city of Mysore can be seen panoramically.

“Age old Durga temple atop a hill.”
Reviewed June 9, 2014

The place where the king himself worshiped is a must see when you are in Mysore. The temple is located on a hill outside the city. The hill climb is a nice experience and gives you an aerial view of the city.

“Maha Shakti peeth!”
Reviewed June 8, 2014

This out of the 52shakti peeth is one of the 18 important Maha-shaktipeeth and the darshanas are a must for any worshipper of the goddess Shakti! According to the legend this is where the Hair of goddess had fallen.

The chamundeshwari Temple of Mysore, since the times of Maharajas and beyond has been a highly sacred place. Its around 15KMs up hill drive from the Mysore Palace.

The roads are excellent. Once you reach the top of the chamundi hill, theres ample space for free car parking.

You take a walk towards the Temple, The Golden Shikhar of which is visible from distance. upon reaching the temple premises and examining the crowd you can opt to go for a general queue which is free of cost or a special queue which cost INR30 only and saved us a lot of time.

After the darshanas we had a meal at a restaurant before reaching the parking the restaurant is named after Chamundeshwari devi itself and serves quick, ample and delicious.

“Visit at sunset”
Reviewed June 8, 2014

We didn't go inside the temple, but the smaller to the side of it. Got ripped off buying some flowers but left them on the alter and said a prayer. We took an auto for 250 rupees with a driver that told us stories and then took us to the bull but learned afterwards that there are stairs you can walk up from the bottom which would have been a great experience. Sunset is beautiful from the top but walking to the edge shows you a trash heap. I enjoyed my experience in the temple itself however.
