“Dont miss it...”
Reviewed November 21, 2012

Tons of ppl before me, have commented on theawesome architecture and the carvings of this temple. So not gonna add to it. Make it a point to spend atleast 4-5 hours there, and take in the sights and the ancient ambience.

Do not miss the Handicrafts shop just outside the temple, selling tribal craft made in brass and bronze.

Driving Directions : If u r driving from mysore, its just about 35-40Kms on state highway 33 towards bannur and take a right towards narsipura after u cross bannur. If u r taking a bus, take a govt bus from the main busstand in mysore to bannur from where, lots of private buses going to narsipura passes via somnathapura.

IF u r driving from bangalore, take a left turn just before mandya town on the mysore highway which goes towards bannur and then on to somnathpura.

“Trikuta Temple of Somnathpura”
Reviewed November 19, 2012

We have visited this temple on 14/11/12. The day was bright - excellent for photography. The exterior as well as the interior of this temple are beautiful.

Photography inside is not easy. There a few electric bulbs, highlighting the deities and ceiling art. But, still, light is inadequate for capturing the intricate work.Fortunately, for me. the power was available while I was inside. But, soon after, power went off and I came thanking my star !

The walls outside are delicately curved - some of the dancing figures are outstanding. So is the figure of MahisasuraMardini.

The friezes are telling stories from our epics and other mythological tales. Unfortunately, many visitors did not focus on these at all ! A hurried visit of this temple is a loss - one should go with at least 2 hours in hand.

Somnathpur is just 32 kms from Mysore city and it is very small village, here we visited God Keshawa`s temple, this temple with intricately curved out figures in stone, outer and inner stone carvings and sculptures are intricate and beautiful. intricately curved out figures in stone, outer and inner stone carvings and sculptures are intricate and beautiful. This temple very well maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India [ASI].
The temple was simply outstanding . Its a worth seeing place.

This is one place which stunned me. whatta beautiful structure, beautiful carvings, well maintained place.. kudos to the tourism department... only problem is with the road that leads to this place, driving can be painful, but its all worth the wonderful experience somanathapura offers.

The Keshava temple has beautiful architecture. But it should be well maintained and care needs to be taken for making it a good tourist spot.
