The Mysore palace is beautifully maintained n is spotlessly clean..we had visited some of the other palaces in India in the past..but this is by far the best..the interiors are amazingly done with intricate wood carvings, beautiful sculptures n paintings..you are actually transported back to the era of the Maharajas by simply entering the palace premises.Would have loved to click some pictures but unfortunately photography is banned within the premises. The palace is beautifully lit up in the evenings and is a must watch if one is visiting Mysore.

An excellent place to visit when in Mysore. We personally loved spending a couple of hours here. Beautifully maintained lawns and gardens. Interiors are well kept and worth viewing. Videography not allowed. No indoor photography....the security took bakshish Rs10 to allow me to keep the cameras with a promise not to use them inside the marvellous interiors of the palace. There is ample cloakroom facilities near the main gate. Good shopping facilities (government tourism approved) for worthwhile souvenirs including Mysore-famous sandlewood products. Far better looked after and presentable than the Jaipur, Udaipur, Agra, Fatehpur Shiri etc monuments. Will again be on my next trip. The fabulously lit up palace is a sight to watch.

we loved the interior detailed work: paining, wood carving, so much detail from the past. If you go at certain times on Sat., and Sunday evening the palace is lit up (Google for times).

I visited several places worldwide but this one is one of a kind. The structure the size and color is very impressive. The paints hanging inside is amazing. The main problem that we can't take pictures inside. This has to be change. In addition it's not clear why the ticket for Tourist has to pay much more than a local.
