“Turn Back Time”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 24, 2012 via mobile

I love anything relate to kingdom, and patterns. This palace has swallowed me into their beautiful exterior, interior and ambience. Simply because the presence is so strong, i felt like in an royal kingdom movie! (Dancing in the middle hall, afternoon tea, etc. Well i wish).

What interest me is the interior detail. The floor and ceiling pattern, AMAZING. The wood crave ornament on the wooden door was also stunning.

There're lots of people over there so we were kinda 'forced' to walk (otherwise they'll be stuck). However, my experience told me that it is actually okay if you want to take a moment and enjoy every explanation, painting, words, etc because those people will just pass you by. So it's fine. Take your time and enjoy everything!

Have a great moment! :)

“Wonderful Palace - Must visit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 22, 2012

Mysore Maharaja Palace or Amba Vilas Palace is a wonderful place to visit around Bangalore.
Architecture is great. Gardens are beautiful and well maintained.

One must take Audio Guide while visiting palace. A Audio Guide is a walkman like device in which one can listen recorded human voice describing history and other details of palace. There is numbering at different places inside the palace, and when one presses the number in Audio Guide,it describes the place. It is available in English and local languages.

There are many wonderful things inside the palace like a 3D painting in which there is cow which looks like it turned its head from which direction you see and there are golden chariots and chairs which Kings then used. There is a flag at top of palace which weighs few hundred kilograms and made of gold. There are many such other things and one cannot know if one doesn't visit it with a guide.

Photography inside the palace is not allowed but many take photos using phone cameras.
One can take photos outside.

There is another Palace in the premises one can visit. which was very old and which was half burnt. This used to be the original one, when this was burnt, Maharaja Palace(big one) was built. There is also a temple in the premises.

It would be more wonderful to visit this palace during Dussehera festival. To celebrate this festival the Palace of Mysore is illuminated with more than 96,000 lights during that two month period

“Well maintained”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 21, 2012

The palace is well maintained. Try to visit the place by 430pm and you can buy the entry tickets (children are free to enter age limit is there) and then start by visiting the palace first. After finishing the palace, you can visit the entire round by going with the battery operated car, its worth it. There are elephant and camel rides at the back of the palace which is nice and the animals well maintained.

Once done you can sit on the lawns facing the front view of the palace and wait as they start to illuminate it step by step and then a few seconds before the main illumination of the entire palace, they switch off the lights and then sharp at 7pm the entire palace, front back,.. basically all sides is illuminated and to get that glimpse of the darkness into brightness of the bulbs is a beauty and something worth capturing as a video!

Again avoid weekend visits and public holidays as even the locals frequent the place.

“The Great Place to visit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 21, 2012

you can see the royality of that times and feels like how royal life they had.

there are some hindu temples within it which was good.

you should also take the ride outside of the palace useually takes 50 buks.

but it's worth to take it as it shows you the palace entirely from outside, so you will have a complete view of the palace from out side
