Its a very old church. Go in pray and enjoy the peace. Only place in Mysore where no ticket is required.

I don't believe there's a tour or anything of the church, so perhaps it would have been more interesting if I'd known more about the history of it. Architecturally, it doesn't really compare with the grand cathedrals of Europe, or much of the Indian architecture in the area. It was interesting to note the blend of the two, though. Worth stopping for a minute if you're driving past, but I wouldn't go out of my way to see it.

Well worth a visit-a truly beautiful cathedral with two attractive towers, some stained glass windows and open until 6pm.

St Philomena's church is a very nice piece of architecture. It is worth the visit as it carries a good deal of the history of the catholic church in Mysore/Kernataka. However, if you've visited some cathedrals in Europe, you will not go wow! at the sight of it.

I've not been to too many Christian churches in India, so it was fascinating to see the Indian take on a non-Indian religion. Shoes off at the door is the start and throughout you can spot touches where local colour has added to the church. Things like the flower offerings on the Christ statue, the sari adorning the Virgin and the spangly dress worn by an infant Jesus.
