“A piece of Tibet”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 21, 2012

Every time I head to Coorg I definitely visit the Golden Temple at the Namdroling Monastery nearby. The monastery is a major attraction for people who are interested in Tibetan beliefs, art and philosophy. The premises transforms itself during the annual festivals. This is situated in Bylakuppe near Kushalnagar (you can get a bus to this place if you're travelling by the local transport or drive here). From here you need to head inside towards the Tibetan settlement boasting of a monastery, the Ngagyur Nyingma Institute, a Center for Buddhist studies and research, residential quarters for the monks and a little market with some restaurants. The atmosphere in this place is replete with sanctity, discipline and the simplicity of the Buddhist way of life. I would definitely recommend this to travellers who seek to explore it.

On entering the area, you experience a sense of quiet and peace. the architecture is overwhelming. the temples are inspiring. Prevailing bliss and peace is the theme of the place. Absolutely beautiful and a MUST VISITdestination. Please stay quiet there.

“Must visit! In for a surprise :)”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 16, 2012

This temple is in Kushalanagar, a tibetian settlement on Coorg-Bangalore highway, about 70kms from Mysore. We had visited this place like 4-5 times now, and I would still re-visit it over and over again! Its not so often that you get to see such an amazing temple where everyone is so friendly, temple is so pious, and the entrance is absolutly free. More surprisingly, you are allowed freely to use camera! You can try some tibetian cusine in the canteen as well. Lots of small toys are available at reasonable prices (little barging will help)

“Beautiful temple admist the small town”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 12, 2012

The temple is quite a surprise on the Coorg- Bangalore highway. The infrastructure and the well maintained temple would make you feel like you are somewhere outside India. The bhuddist lords and their worship is a unique one and also a pleasure to watch.
The temple is spread across a huge area and If you get a chance don't miss out to go inside the temple

“Must Visit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 28, 2012

It was a surprise for us when we went in there. Didnt expect a small tibet at such an interior part of the Karnataka. When we went there, they were chanting their prayers or shlokas. It was really mesmerizing experience to listen and see Buddhists bikkhus. Dont miss it. Its on the way to Mysore Madikeri road so its kinda easy to cover while coming or going to coorg
