“The History”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 6, 2013

Was a great introduction into the earlier elements of British rule in India. The summer palace is a great initial stop on any tour with ornate carving an beautiful pictures. The surrounding gardens are beautiful, relaxing and offer great photo opportunities.

My 10 and 6 year old children both enjoyed the visit along with the adults in our party.

“Tipu’s place is okay but Cauvery bank is great”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 6, 2013

Dariya Daulat Bagh (Tipu’s summer palace) is ok for a short visit and so is Tipu’s tomb. Though I have lot of respect for Tipu Sultan but in my opinion these places are very much hyped but has less content. There are no entry fee there but you have to pay a good parking fee at every place. Market outside Tipu’s tomb is good and reasonable. You can find many small small interesting things in good rates there. Overall Tipu’s related places can be skipped if you are tight on schedule.

Triveni sangam is a very beautiful place in Sri Rangpatna for day picnic but it is mostly crowded on holidays. I found Cauvery bank at Gosai Ghat a better place to sit, relax and enjoy because it was less occupied. Coracle ride in Cauvery river is fun and Ghat is comparatively safer if you want to go in water. Don’t forget to keep one extra dress for you while visiting these places. Both of the places are recommended for nature lovers.

“Must Visit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 27, 2012

Srirangapatna is an old island city surrounded by River cauvery. One can still see the old fortifications now in ruins . Its a double walled fort and was considered impregenable. Sri Ranganatha temple , Lalmahal , Gosai Ghat, Daria Doulat Bagh , Gumbaz, Bailey's dungeon , water gate are some of the tourist attraction spot.
