The Shimla Kali Bari is a very popular tourist attraction & was built in 1845 and is dedicated to Goddess Kali. People who come to Shimla never miss out on visiting this temple. Located at just one km away from Mall Road- the central hub of Shimla, the ancient Kali Bari Temple is a place worth visiting. The temple remains jam-packed during Navaratras and Pooja holidays. Kali Bari Temple is in close proximity to the Shimla city mall.
The temple is very neat & clean & well maintained & is on the uphill. So you have to walk & climb up the slope while visiting the temple. There are lots of monkeys in the temple, so beware of your belongings & keep it away from their reach as they can snatch it from you.
The Kalibari also has rooms for staying which can be booked at nominal rates but do not expect very good standards as the rates are cheap below Rs.500. There are 64 rooms. Only 12 rooms have attached bath. During Puja holidays there is near zero chance of getting a room unless you are very very well connected. Also, you can get lunch, dinner, breakfast, tea, coffee at a very cheap price from their own canteen.

Simla Kalibari is one of the famous spot to visit at shimla. You can stay here also at very low cost. It take only 300 /- per night per room. As cost is very low so dont expect much comfort. U will not get 24 hours hot water. Its not like a hotel room. Just keep on mind if u want to stay here.

Though a long walk to the end of the Mall road but worth the effort.
Never seen such form of Kali anywhere. Will refresh your soul.

The Kali Bari temple is one of the ancient temples in Shimla built in 1845. It is dedicated to the fearsome reincarnation of Goddess Kali also known as Shyamala. The Goddess is believed to have existed near Jakhoo. The shrine of the blue Goddess existed near Rotheny Castle on Jakhoo before it was shifted to a place, known as Kali Bari near Mall Road which is the current location.

In the temple, a wooden image of the Goddess Kali in the form of Shyamala is worshipped. The original altar at the shrine was established by the Bengali devotees.

Goddess Kali is also worshipped in the forms like Bhavani, Bhadrakali, Chamunda, Durga, Kumari Sati, Kamakhya, Meenakshi, Parvati,Tara and Uma at the shrine.

It is a very popular shrine in Shimla and receives many devotees on the auspicious occasion of Navratri and Durga Puja. Located in close vicinity to the Shimla city mall, the temple can be reached by foot.

This iconic Kali Mata temple is one of the major attractions of Shimla. The best time to visit the temple is in the morning between 10-12. Beware of monkeys though!
