“Three Grand Places of Creative Vision”
Reviewed May 25, 2014

At this time, the Reina family have three hotels in
Tatapani, Indian Himalayas. Hotel Hot Spring Therme
and Spa, presently their flagship, their first venture,
New Hot Spring, and the last, yet to be named as of this
writing. Being young as well as young at heart, I am
sure there are more creations to come from Prem and
Kushar, the two Reina members engaged in hospitality.

New Hot Spring, built some fifteen years ago, and
where we stayed, has much of an Italian mountain
chalet about it, as one might expect from Prem and
his lovely Italian wife. Here the view over valley and
river opens to mountains which seem to go up forever.
It is a smallish affair, wood, with excellent design,
light and color throughout, and with its as yet not
entirely competent staff a place well suited for Indian
families newly arrived in the emerging middle class,
as well as those of every land who wish to stretch their
travel money as best they can. It is unrealistic to
expect five star service at backpacker budget prices.
Prem and Kushar are aware of this, but finding and
training additional staff is difficult in small Tatapani.
None the less, the building and views count for a lot,
and one is always welcome to use the facilities
at the grand Hotel Hot Springs, (restaurant, wifi,
public hot spring at no additional room rate.

As to Hotel Hot Spring, Therme and Spa, many have
pointed out that Tatapani is some 45 kilometers from
Shimla. Perhaps this could be made clear in postings,
since, in fact, the hotel stands as an alternative to busy,
bustling Shimla, the point here being to discover
oneself in splendid and impossibly beautiful nature.
Like any establishment catering to the high and
mighty, this hotel has a precision, a perfectly trained
staff sensing every desire and want, be it spa, natural
hot springs, excellent restaurant, large, elegant, clean
rooms, grand public balcony and grounds of garden,
pasture, farm land, mountain and river walks all woven
together.

With the last hotel, just opening, the Reina have taken
an old meditation retreat higher in the mountains, held
for many years by the government until almost a ruin
and recreated simple yet graciously elegant suites
perfectly attuned to the rustic surroundings
amidst tall trees and deep valleys. Work was not
done when we arrived, but without doubt, a
revelation of imagination and creative power is clear.

Hotel Hot Spring was the last destination of our Himachal trip and was the best decision made by us to stay far from crowd at a peaceful place. All the tiredness of travelling for 12 days in Himachal was released by full body massage and herbal steem bath provided here. Water rafting was so much fun that we did a 12 km stretch after a 6 km stretch. Adventure Park is great fun for kids. Food is good and special request for Jain food was well accommodated. The Rooms need to be redone and maintained to the standards of today's time. Special Mention for Ravi at the Adventure Park, Mr.Swaroop at the reception and Mr.R.K.Sharma the GM at the resort, you guys made our holiday a funfull and endearing event.

We had a very nice stay, it was our first visit to this place and would definitely visit there again, the staff really made us feel so much at home. Specially would like to thank Mr. Prem the owner of the hotel for such warm hospitality. The room was great, the food was good and the best part was the pool.

Had a great time.

The First Impression While Entering the Premises is not that great.
I Was like this is what i came for after driving so far.

But Slowly n steadily once we stetted down , I felt good.

Food Quality is good.

Hello everyone! To start with the overall experience I would rate this place 4/5. Good ambience and the staff took very good care of me and my better half. Choose this hotel only if you want to stay away from the commercialisation you would be experiencing in shimla and is interested for a very calm and composed stay with beautiful surroundings. No questions on device of the hotel. It is just that it takes at least 2 hours drive from shimla to tattapani( where the hotel is located). Also to indulge you in some activities hotel offers adventure packages and the front desk staff will also help you in organising a small itenerary to keep you busy. Natural sulphur water is what you will experience here and the only hotel with mini swimming pool in this area. Hotel owner Angela was very nice. All in all a very good option if you chose to stay a bit away from shimla. Incase you wish to see shimla attractions, my advise would be to divide your stay in shimla and tattapani to equalise.

Rooms are large and spacious. They come with a balcony overlooking the Sutlej river.
Food is nice. Service is okay.
Best part is that there are two private pools for the hot water springs along with the public pool. Try and get the private pools. A lot more cozy and you can relax away from the chaos of the public pool.
It's about 2 hours from Shimla and down in the valley at the level of the Sutlej River. Weather is a lot warmer than up in Shimla.

Room Tip: Get rooms on Higher Floors with balcony.

I happened to be there with my husband on our honeymoon. The hotel was awesome with a very war welcome from their staff. They had decorated the room very beautifully. Taste of food was very good. Their private pool is amazing . Also the ayurvedic treatments removed the entire stress and tiredness.
Their adventure activities is also pretty good. Also the candle light dinner and cake were too good All in all thumbs up. I would love to be there again.
