I will admit that I am a sucker for ambiance and setting, particularly one with a rich and original ethnic decor. So I continue to appreciate the Spice Route for this aesthetic appeal. The service is also good, and effort is made to accomodate requests i.e. where to sit etc. My main complaint is that the food does not warrant the price. Better to eat at Saravana Bharan for a tenth the price.

Truly one of the most amazing restaurants I had dined in Delhi. Really one of a kind. I was taken here by my business associates. Based on Indian Feng Shui the place is divided into 9 sections of life. It also depicts the spice journey from the "Malabar Coast in Kerala through Sri Lanka, Malaysia, and Indonesia to Thailand and Vietnam." (plague in restaurant) Absolutely awesome. Food was VERY good, but we thought the ambiance and service was well worth every penny.

The ambience of this restaurant is good. Though their choice of menu is somewhat limited, they do a good job out of whatever they do. While I would not rate this as mind blowing food, it definitely meets the expectation. Also another striking aspect of this place is the hospitality accorded right from the entrance to the professional attitude and service of the waiters.

I've eaten in lots of restaurants in the world, expensive and cheap, rural and mass market. You know what to expect in each and mark it accordingly on if it achieves it. The spice route gets it right. Ok it's not 500 year old brick work and a view of fishermen bringing home the catch, but the decor is amazing - ask for a tour and they will take you through all the stages of life as represented in the design of each area where you sit. It isnt just a random room, pillars and motifs. As for food, quite simply it is different and good. Mango parfait, check, coconut ice cream, check, but a spiced watermelon chutney over the top? Perfectly crunching chicken pieces to match the sweet corn strands? That part is quality and most chefs just don't seem to produce it. Same with the service - attentive without being obtrusive, with friendly personality rather than cold, you aren't fit to eat this food, service that so many waitors who can't cook suffer from. Being a tight fisted scot the prices are incredibly reasonable too!

OMG the service was awesome. the food was beyond fabulous. I love this place. The atmosphere was so relaxed and peaceful yet the restaurant was quite busy. A group of us dined, adults and children and we were all made to feel very welcome indeed.
