Nice restaurant with amazing interior & hospitable staff. The menu is vast and offers exquisite delicacies of southern India. From ambience to interior to food everything was great! One thing that i did not like much was the delay in service which was not expected out of a hotel of such repute. Else everything gets thumbs up!

I was craving good South Indian food and it had been a while since my last visit here.

We started our meal with excellent buttermilk that had a wonderful gingery and spicy kick.

For starters, I would highly recommend the Meen Varuval - delicately spiced fish that was perfectly crisp on the outside and yet soft and tender inside. Another excellent dish is the Meen Pollichadu which is fish steam in a banana leaf.

We left the rest of the meal-ordering to the restaurant manager. He was extremely friendly and helpful and very knowledgeable about the preparations. He ordered appams and a prawn curry for our mains, accompanied by a delicious vegetarian dish called Beans Paripu. The chef also gave us a complimentary serving of Gongura Mamsam - a wonderfully rich tangy lamb dish that went perfectly with our appams.

We shared a bowl of payasam for dessert which was even better than the kind served by restaurants in the South. All in all, it was a great experience and I would definitely recommend Dakshin to Delhi-ites looking for slice of authentic South Indian fare in North India!

This is what we call it as an authentic South Indian restaurant!

Never thought that i will fall in love with South Indian delicacies so much. The food was really awesome and so was the interior. The gentleman who took the order was too good at his job & tried to upsell the signature dishes which indeed impressed us.

The only thing that was a letdown for an outlet of such highly reputed hotel was the delay in service. The service was too slow & we had to wait for 15 minutes for the second round of breads to be served despite the fact that we ordered for it much before.

It appeared that the delay was a result of understaffing. Baring this aspect, else everything was perfect!

During my recent visit to Delhi, I was keen to try some authentic South Indian food and landed at Dakshin since I had heard a lot about it. The restaurant's reputation precedes it and I wasn't disappointed one bit. My pick is the fish in banana leaf, called Meen polichandu and another fish curry named chapala puluso. The staff was extremely warm and suggested excellent white wine - the St Claire Sauvignon Blanc that went very well with the food. This is one place im going to keep coming back!
