“Clean and Comfortable Hotel but Nothing Special”
Reviewed December 12, 2012

This hotel is located in an area called Saket located in the southern part of New Delhi. The hotel is modern, clean and comfortable, but not what I would call a "boutique" hotel. It's located right next to a mall type area which is a little seedy. Nevertheless, the staff was helpful with directions, etc. It's not far from a subway station which gives access to the entire metro area. Food here was good. As I've found with other hotels in India, there is no place in the hotel to sit and relax in a comfortable chair with a drink in hand. Something that I like to do after a long day of sightseeing. You're required to sit in the bar where seating is less relaxing.

The room was fine; service was good.

We stayed here a few nights. We really enjoyed this hotel and really liked the people that are working there. Breakfast is good, rooms are comfortable. A big advantage for us was that it is next to Saket community center, which is a nice place for the evening (when you're tired from the culture shock ;) it is really pleasant to stroll around, find something to eat, get a coffee at the coffee day, go to the movies, drink a hot chocolate at the chocolate room, find some good Indian authors in Ohm book store, or just get a ticket to a movie in de PVR cinema. There is a very relaxed vibe in this centre! I recommend this one!

They call themselves a boutique hotel, but: 1) lampshade missing in the room, 2) no mirror in the room (unless you count the one above the bathroom sink), 3) rotten bananas at the breakfast buffet, 4) the towels provided were hard and grey, 5) the china definitely needs replacing and 6) last but not the least, i had given a garment for ironing, and it came back damaged. Really poor service. The loud music coming from the neighbourhood at midnight didnt help either.

So, unless you have a pressing reason to stay in this locality, this one is better avoided.

We stayed at the Silver Ferns for two nights and were very happy with our room. I sometimes wonder if I am staying at the same hotel as some of the other reviewers. We had the opposite experience of some of the other people reviewing the hotel. We found the room to be clean, comfortable and it's location allowed us to eat well within a short walk of the hotel. The hot water was hot. The Internet worked well. The staff went over board to insure a pleasant stay and the beds were comfortable. The only down side was the dogs fighting each other in the middle of the night in the large "modern" market just outside the hotel door. The market itself featured a McDonald's, a Pizza Hut and an array of Indian restaurants. We found a little restaurant tucked away in the back of the market and had a great meal, for four, costing us a wee bit over $12 (Rs 655). In contrast, we paid Rs 1600 for a lunch in a tourist restaurant our guide delivered us to that was not nearly as good.

We arrived in Delhi around midnight and we only had a few hours to stay before we took the earliest train to Agra. The hotel looked dreary and the room looked more like a sad little hovel. Overall, there was nothing significant about this hotel save for the 'breakfast' they prepared for our train trip: some sandwich which tasted old, 2 boiled eggs and 2 bananas. Oh yes. The people talking and the dogs barking outside made sleep soo difficult. What's up with the overpriced and underwhelming accommodations in India??
