“Heaven to stay”
Reviewed January 21, 2010

Despite the late time, I was warmly greeted in the hotel with a fruit drink and a flower "necklace". My room (named Bollywood) was nicely decorated with Indian movie posters and a cinema flod light. The bathroom was quite big with a kind of jakuzzi bathtub. as Shanti Home is located near the airport I have chosen another hotel. Shame, I would love to stay there again! The word "Home" applies perfectly to this hotel...!

I went to the Shanti Home further to the recommendations I read on Tripadvisor for one (short!) night between two flights, arriving at 3 am and departing at 9.45!
The driver who picked me up at a crowded airport was a very nice and knowledgeable man, with a clean Japanese car. Somehow I had expected one of these typical old Indian taxis... So it was a great surprise! Despite the late time, I was warmly greeted in the hotel with a fruit drink and a flower "necklace". My room (named Bollywood) was nicely decorated with Indian movie posters and a cinema flod light. The bathroom was quite big with a kind of jakuzzi bathtub. I will be back in Delhi for 3 nights at the end of my trip in February, but as Shanti Home is located near the airport I have chosen another hotel. Shame, I would love to stay there again! The word "Home" applies perfectly to this hotel...!

The hotel is magnificent n so excellent & I have never experienced such an incredible & fast service before. It was so lovely that it was hard to drag myself away from the hotel to go to the theme parks at all.

It's not a hotel. It's just a big house.
The restaurant is at the terrace. There was no TV and mirror in the room.
Wi-Fi was not working, though they reset the server several times. The breakfast was more than modest. It's too far from down-town.
It's not your hotel!

We stayed at Shanti Home between 22 and 24 December 2009. This was a wonderful experience, a perfectly tranquil setting in Old Delhi.
We booked a package which afforded us a private driver and car which we used on arrival to do a tour of all the places of interest in Delhi and also for the full day trip to Agra and the Taj Mahal. Also included in the package was a 4 course dinner, a couple’s massage, bed and breakfast and airport pickup.
On arrival – our flight from Goa (via Mumbai) was delayed by a couple of hours, so we decided to go straight to the hotel and get checked in and have some lunch. When we reached Shanti Home Pooja greeted us in reception with a lovely refreshing fruit drink, and then we were whisked off on a guided tour of the building which is split over 3 floors. We were on the 2nd floor, and received an upgrade room ‘Bombay Talkies’, which was furnished to a high standard and absolutely lovely, I especially loved the gold pillows on the bed.
Then we went up to the rooftop restaurant and had lunch. We allowed Pooja to recommend some dishes for us, and we were not disappointed, each one was more fantastic than the first – our compliments to the chef were passed on and the chef came out to speak with us. When we had finished our lunch, and were preparing to head off on our sightseeing trip of Delhi, Pooja, two of the chefs and Raj our waiter came out with a beautiful anniversary cake. What a lovely touch, and what a deliciously light and flavoursome treat. Once again, our thanks for making our trip so special.
Dinner in the restaurant was also a wonderful experience, on both evenings we ate in the rooftop restaurant, with its own tandoori oven where food was prepared and cooked in front of the guests. A beautiful touch was the hollowed our tomato with a candle inside – it really was impressive.
The Shanti Home team is gracious, helpful, and friendly. I would highly recommend if you are staying in Delhi that you consider staying here. It really felt like a home from home.

We recently had the pleasure to stay at Shanti Home with friends on 3 occasions during our trip to India Dec 2009/Jan 2010. What a treat! Our interaction was excellent from our initial emails through our reluctant departure to catch our flight. The Shanti Home team is gracious, helpful, and friendly. The rooms are beautiful and comfortable and the common areas interesting and varied. We also loved Lantern, the rooftop restaurant. We will definitely return to Shanti Home! Thank you Pooja and your team for our wonderful stay!!

Most Sincerely,

Patty, Sky, Elizabeth & David

This hotel is #1 for a reason! We found the staff extremely friendly and accommodating. We arrived at 4 am and they were all waiting for us cheerfully. The rooftop restaurant had a tandoori oven and offered a great breakfast and day/night menu. The hotel is also able to coordinate masseuses for use in their spa at a very reasonable price (steam room and shower included). The only slight downfall was how far it was from Connaught Place and the center of the city - it took 1 1/2 hours to get into the city in the morning and to get home at the end of the day (both during rush hour). But even with the location I would still recommend it as the best 3-star hotel I've stayed at in India.
