“Excellent view over Old Delhi”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 17, 2014

I visited your restaurant when I took a walk in Old Delhi in January 2014. Because I stayed in your hotel in 2009, I knew that your restaurant is a peaceful oasis in Old Delhi. The hotel looked as clean and nice as before and the food was good.
However, I think you should open up your big roof top for the tourists. It has an unusually good view, but since 2009 you still have only one table there, so the roof top is mostly frequented by your staff or used for drying laundry. I think you would have space for all of this!
Unfortunatelly most hotel owners in Delhi don't know how much tourists love roof tops :-) But if you look up "Marrakech riad" or "Marrakech hotel le Gallia" on Tripadvisor, you will see with your own eyes what I mean. I chose your hotel the first time because of the roof top and I think I'm not the only tourist who does that. If you advertise your hotel as an oasis with a roof top restaurant with good food, you will get many visitors :-)

Room Tip: I guess the few rooms with a window to the street are a little more expensive, but also the rooms wi...

I travelled to Delhi for business purpose and expected a business hotel. I reached Red fort and was told that I cannot reach the hotel by car - cycle rickshaw is the only option. The lane got smaller & smaller and my shock factors kept increasing. Finally I reached a place which would have passed off as an airconditioned photocopy centre with scrap-shops as neighbours. ShockedI wanted t cut-short my stay at the hotel but decided to stay for a day as the payment was already done.
As the day progressed, I experienced that the hotel was neat & clean, No noise, wide corridor, efficient & friendly service, good food, fast & free wi-fi and more. Located next to Chandi-chowk, you can get excellent street food. Getting transportation is easy.
Decided to go ahead with the three days stay. Apart from the enterance, this is a good place to stay.

We stayed at the Tara Palace for one night during our recent trip to India. The hotel is a bit challenging to locate as it is tucked away in the side streets off the main road. However, if you email the staff in advance, they can arrange to have someone pick you up.

The hotel staff are extremely helpful and friendly; providing us with directions to nearby attractions.

Beds are comfortable and rooms are clean. Washrooms are a bit dated and could use a makeover.

One challenge I had leading up to the stay was the amount of reconfirming required to schedule our transport from the airport. I found myself having to reconfirm our arrival date/time and airline number three times while on the same email thread. Perhaps an opportunity for improvement for the hotel staff to be more attentive when communicating over email.

My wife and I stayed here for four nights in February 2014 and loved it. Great location in Old Delhi close to Red Fort and Jama Masjid. There is a myriad of tiny alleyways and the whole area is very atmospheric. Felt safe and happy. Pawan the driver picked us up from the airport and took us back on our way home. A friendly, kind, knowledgeable and reliable man. Thank you so much. Best place I have stayed in Delhi and will definitely return. Thoroughly enjoyed it!

Room Tip: Stayed in a super deluxe room was clean, spacious, quiet and comfortable.

An oasis of calm in the heart of the hustle & bustle of Old Delhi. Deceptively big hotel, very clean with lovely staff. Accommodating to our schedule. Good food :) Would definitely stay again & absolutely recommend to anyone travelling on a budget & looking to be in the thick of the real Old Delhi.

Five years ago we stayed in this hotel, trusting the good reviews on Tripadvisor. We were not disappointed then. Therefore we wanted to come back to this most interesting part of Delhi. We felt almost like locals when we where leading the taxi-driver to the entrance-path of the hotel (he didn't know the place). And just like the first time, it was hard to understand that our hotel would appear through the narrow road leading from the old cycle-market. But that is the fascinating about Hotel Tara Palace. It is clean, well organized with a service-minded staff, good food (even though it is unusual for a European only to have vegetable food) low prices and the most interesting surroundings you can want to have. We liked to walk among all the workers and merchants at the old cycle market. It is also fascinating to go in and out of the labyrinths formed by the narrow streets. The hotel is a hidden juwel in old Delhi.

Stayed here with a friend in November. Place is clean and efficiently run for the most part. The front desk staff was pleasant enough, although they called the room constantly to "check on us". The first time or two was nice as it felt as though they just wanted to see how our day was going but it became excessive. The travel agent that works in conjunction with the hotel offers some great package deals, although his "salesman" personality makes him a bit off putting. We did book a driver to go to other regions and the driver was wonderful.

The room service in the hotel is tasty and decently priced. The room service staff, however, was a little on the creepy side. As two young female travelers, we found that if we ordered from room service they came to the room multiple times which seemed unnecessary. Also at breakfast one morning, the dining room attendant brought our breakfast without the fruit. We didn't care until we saw him sneak it out of a drawer in the dining room and shove it in his mouth and pretend as though nothing happened. Very Odd. He also used the bathroom in the dinning room and started making extremely uncomfortable noises as we ate.

The facilities as a whole were clean though and in the right price range. The location is really close to the Red Fort which is interesting.
