“Great stay in Natraj Yes Please”
Reviewed February 17, 2014

This is where my friend and I stayed our first couple of nights on our first trip to India. We were not disappointed. The place is very new and clean, we had nice white sheets and towels and the staff were friendly enough. They helped us organise a transfer to the train station and the cafe that the hotel is attached to serves nice food in a backpacker atmosphere. The area is quite cool (full ok backpackers) and easy to access other parts of Delhi.

First time ever in Delhi stayed here for 3 nights. No windows and tv not working and only cold water but this is india. The room service boy was very helpful and attentive. Reception staff were honest and never ripped us off. Very nice lobby area and close to amenities. Also safe for belongings.

We stayed here on our first night in India. The place does have some good elements - really decent sized rooms and a lovely marble staircase in the main areas. However, we were not that impressed after that. The staff would insist and insist on doing things for us that we were perfectly happy to do ourselves, which would have been nice and appreciated if they hadn't then expected extra tips for doing these things! I know this is India, but we did not encounter this kind of behaviour anywhere else we stayed whilst in the country.

The room was clean...ish, apart from the bedsheets which were pretty gross. We have been on the road for a long time so are hardly spoilt princesses, but one of our pillows was covered in yellow stains and somebody elses hairs.

We booked and paid for a taxi to the bus station at the hotel, and the driver then asked us for extra money when we arrived. He got pretty angry when we told him we had already paid. Overall we found the atmosphere a little grabby and greedy, but aside from that people were friendly enough. We thought maybe it was just Delhi, but we stayed in a similarly priced place on our next visit, and it was not like this at all.

The area is not the nicest but it is very popular with backpackers and close to the train station, so location is convenient depending on what you are wanting. The restaurant across from the hotel did really good breakfasts though!

Location is basically on main bazaar and walking distance from New Delhi train station although the traffic is loud.

The bed had only a sheet over the mattress and a think rug - no middle sheet. The connected cafe for room service served good food and coffee at good prices.

The bathroom had no proper stationary shower option making it hard to wash your hair plus it was basically on top of the toilet which leaked loudly all night. The taps are backward and after a staff member showed us that it still took 20 minutes for barely lukewarm water on all three days we stayed.

My wife and I stayed for two nights and I must say I was impressed. Take into account that this is at the lower end of the options available in Delhi and you can't complain. The room was big, very clean and came with a small outdoor area. Right in the heart of the backpacker action with Main Bazaar a minute's walk away. If you are after something fancier, pay the money and stop moaning (too many people expect luxury when paying for a budget hotel), if you want a good, safe, clean room, this is your best bet. Staff were also very friendly and happy to get you a cold beer if you need one!

The only downside, and this will go for anywhere in this area, is that it was a little noisy at night. However, we travl with ear plugs and once they were in was a great night's sleep.

Room Tip: Get a room on the top floor for a small, albeit enclosed, outdoor area.

This is good value for money if u are just wanting a clean, safe place to put ur head whilst u explore Delhi. A little noisy at night but that will be the same for all hotels in the area. There is a great cafe opposite and the area, albeit seemingly run down has a chat to it if u are prepared to sit and watch. Also good location....

This hotel is located near the tourist zone, that also happens to be a market zone.
That's nice, but is also very noisy, even at night. The hotel is basic and not so clean and the room smelled like an ashtray...
I think there are better options to stay in delhi, next time, i'll definitely book another hotel.
