“A save heaven midst the crazy Bazaar”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 29, 2010

This place is kept fairly clean and the rooms were reasonably clean and spacious.
The service personnel was friendly and helpful but the restaurant food is overpriced and not the most tasty option around.
I had the room 110 which was a deluxe room with aircon and a pretty nice bathroom and balcony. Make sure to either books 110-113 which are far better than the rest.

The hotel is located in the middle of the bazaar which is crazy busy but you can get the the train station within a few minutes rickshaw ride.

We were going to check out Metropolis and found their new hotel by accident - just around the corner from the main hotel.
This is completely new and modern hotel without a restaurant, since you just have to walk a block to get to the original Metropolis.
Rooms are new with comfortable beds, flat-panel tvs, marble baths and extremely affordable rates. Only drawback is the lack of a lift - so if you have lots of luggage it is a climb. Other consideration is that it is right in the middle of the main bazaar - so while the rooms were quiet, the everyday chaos of the market is just outside the hotel. The metro is just one block away - so easy to get to (although taxis may have a problem getting through the market streets at busy times - but it is just a short walk from the main street). If you're coming by Metro, its easy to see the huge METROPOLIS neon sign on top of the building, but you'll have to circle around past the Rama Krishna Ashram and main street of the bazaar to arrive to the building (turn right just before main Metropolis Hotel/Restaurant).

Rooms were pretty big but not really comfortable. She shower was rather poor and you could feel electricity while showering. Everything was pretty clean though. 1500 Rupees are a little bit expensive for a place like this.

PS: Don't rent a car there. The drivers aren't really friendly and try to trick you.

The room was older but it was generally clean (except the ashtray). The tv worked fine and had cable. I once asked for a wake-up call and they said they would call but they never did. For the neighborhood it was in I found it to be a bit expensive but there are worse places around.

Date 19th June, 2009

We booked the room , market facing in the bustling street. The hotel is nice and has homely comforts. Moreover, the in house restaurant is the best in the area. We felt safe and comfortable. Highly recomended.

This is not a destination hotel. You wouldn't go to Delhi just to stay there. But if you like Paharganj or at least its convenience for the train station, metro, etc., Metropolis is about as good as it gets. Be sure to request rooms 109, 110, or 111. They are in an entirely different league from all of the others.

Paharganj is bustling and virtually none of its hotels are quiet, and this is no exception, but with the a/c running it's manageable.

Also, do not ask the front desk to arrange pick-ups, cars, etc. for you as they will charge nearly double what others in Paharganj charge. I bargained them down for one particular trip but I had to start over every time I returned to the front desk to confirm or change the time, with the attendant not believing I had bargained it down with someone else before. There is a travel agency immediately across from the front door of Metropolis that will give you much more reasonable prices for everything.
