Our room looked nice when we first entered but a closer inspection showed the sheets were dingy, the once-white towels were gray and the floor was sloped! The service was also quite spotty. There was a door hanger to request room service and we used it twice but received no service. This despite the fact that there always seemed to be 10 extra employees standing around with presumably nothing to do. The poor service didn't stop one employee from flat out asking for a tip, though!

The breakfast and dinner served were good but each order took about 45 minutes to fill.

I would not recommend staying in this neighborhood at all -- especially if you're new to India. It's extremely dirty, noisy (horns blaring at all hours) and overwhelming. There was a construction project going on next door and welding sparks flew at us, nearly burning us. Aside from a sweet shop, there doesn't seem to be any restaurants in the vicinity. We ended up eating at the Night Market.

Following good reviews on trip advisor my partner + I booked the first couple of nights of our 6 week trip to India here. As soon as we arrived the hotel staff were very friendly. Having nearly been scammed (auto-rickshaw tout claimed we needed a special permit to enter that area of Delhi) it was comforting to finally get settled into our room. We were shown 2 rooms both of which were clean. We had a great room with hot water, good air con and room service was quick. there is a rooftop restaurant which serves a nice selection of indian food at a good price. It's in a great location only a short walk down a straight road to the main bazaar. Very happy we booked here for the first part of trip, everything we could have wanted. Highly recommended if your a backpacker on a budget!!!!

Just spent 3 nights here. The room was clean and came with a toothbrush , toothpaste and comb pack which was a nice touch. We ate dinner here once and had several other meals here. We found the food was very good and the roof terrace was an excellent place to enjoy it. Initially we found the service slightly overwhelming with everyone offering to help us, however soon got used to it and did find the staff helpful. We were allowed to check out 3 hours later than designated time which helped us out massively. We also found the wifi worked really well in the room with a strong signal. The main drawback with this place is the location. Its in a very crowded and busy area. The streets didn't feel safe to walk along, so we had to jump in a rickshaw as soon as we walked outside the hotel. However, for what you pay, you can't have everything, so would say overall that we were happy with this place and found it to be great value in a very expensive city.

The ambience of this hotel is terrible. Really felt uncomfortable in this ambience. You will realize this the moment you enter the hotel. Rooms were also very poor. I can't even think of going to this hotel again.

Hotel Lal's Haveli was a blessing for us. We were not prepared for the sensory overload of Paharganj, but the hotel itself helped us keep calm. The owner was warm and kind to us from beginning to end, and not pushy in terms of offering train booking services etc. The room was relatively clean and the fan kept us cool. The restaurant on the roof was a wonderful retreat from the streets and the food was excellent. It was noisy at night but to be fair they were renovating the hotel next door at all hours. The wifi worked well in the room.

The only downsides were slightly dirty sheets, a couple of unnecessary phone calls to the room asking if we needed anything (we needed sleep!) and the TV didn't work. However none of these things were high on our priorities and I'm sure if we'd made even a small fuss it would have been sorted.

Overall very satisfied and would recommend if you are staying in Paharganj and want somewhere to get away from it all.

Especially for Delhi which is not the warmest or friendliest city in India we found that Lal's Haveli was a good place to stay. They were able to help us at all hours of the day, the location was safe yet located near all the sites, and the location was clean and tidy.

Given their economical pricing we felt that they provided exceptional service.

We stayed here because its close location to the train station. The Hotel is clean and the staff are very helpful. the food was good and the roof top restaurant was a welcome escape from the Delhi chaos.
The day manager hooked us up with the travel company the adventure starts here, we wanted a tour of Delhi on that day and we were whisked off to the adventure companys office and rail roaded into changing our travel plan for the following day to Agra which i had a train booked and was told no one goes by train and you will miss so much if you do not take a car, my fault for changing but the driver arrives a hour late the next morning and his only interest was food and tourist shop stops so he could get a percentage of what we bought. he showed us one statue on the way and pointed at agar fort on the way to the Taj mahal, put us in a rikshaw to get a hundred yards to the main gate.just know what you want and do not be talked into anything if you are foolish enough to go with this company.
