They will try to sell you an organized trip with their car + driver, beware of the scam!!! they will insist telling you that India is very dangerous for lonely travellers. DON'T LET THEM FOOL YOU!!!, India is safe and you can use the train as a safe and confortable mean of transport.
They take advantage of the situation because usually many people start their trip from Delhi due to the International airport, hence people usually don't know how is travelling in India.
Another advice: go to the official tourism agency.
Finally my opinion about the hotel: The only one with Continental-like breakfast (not bad), the rooms are quite OK but in my humble opinion the price is extremely high for their quality.
By the way: the slums are nearby.

Dear Guest ,

As a service provider we consider it as a part of our duty to make aware the overseas guests about the possible harassments & misguidance one can face at the train stations , specially if the guest is absolutely new in the country. We only advice the guests to compare the harassments and misguidance situation with a more comfortable & safer way of traveling, because at times we do come across such travelers who get very bad experience when traveling by trains and using local mode of transportation within the cities. By this review, we can only say that our suggestion has been misunderstood and misinterpreted. However we shall surely take this review into our consideration and ensure to change our modality of giving advices & suggestions.
As about the hotel: We can only say that all the regrets shall overcome very soon as the management has decided to renovate the rooms, bringing them to a better level.
Your posted comments are of high value and necessary steps shall surely be taken accordingly.

Stayed at this hotel for two nights upon arriving in Delhi from the United States. Overall, I was very satisfied with this place. It is a great location if you have an early morning train to catch from the New Delhi station, and it was only a short 5 minute walk from the restaurants on the main bazar in Paharganj. This area is a little bit dirty and chaotic, but it is well lit and crowded at night, and never felt unsafe. There are also a few backpackery bars within walking distance, which had cheap kingfisher beers, and which were more interesting the typical Connaught Plaza hotel bar.

The hotel itself has a very nice lobby and marble staircase, and the rooms were good by India standards. There were no windows in our room, which normally would have bothered me, but it actually worked out well as I was adjusting to the 12-hour jetlag and kept waking up at random hours of the night. The rooftop breakfast was a nice setting and quite good.

All in all, this is a good place if you want to be in Paharganj, but want something that is a (significant) step up from the average grungy backpacker hotel.

We stayed 3 nights at the Hotel Le Roi and our stay was pleasant. The rooms are clean, and comfortable. The bed was nice, and there is a flat screen TV. They have a room service menu which is all Indian Cuisine. i am so glad i found this hotel. there was no deception..the hotel was just as it is on the net and pics. Great value for money! Room was fabulous and spacy and modern. Just make friends with the housekeeping so that they actually make your rooms and clean it! otherwise the restaurant food that i could order as room service or eat in and overall stay was great. The staff were always helpful and friendly. Excellent room service

We arrived at night and were given a room which smelt like smoke... we asked for another room which was a deluxe as we had booked that and there were none available.... we were told to wait in another room while they cleaned up the room and sprayed it with fresh air spray... we stayed the night there and the bathroom was a disaster. the shower has no closure, so when you turned the tap on all the floor, sink and toilet got wet....it was horrible....!! after staying there unfortunately for 2 nights as we had a jam packed holiday we moved the 3rd day to a hotel further down the road. which didnt look as flash from the outside bust facilities were much better....breakfast wasnt all that either.... if u are a fussy person about bathrooms then choose another hotel...! Oh and not to forget the hooting of cars all night!! could barely sleep! then it was dogs early in the morning!

Room Tip: higher floor and may be see if any rooms have a closed shower...

The first night we had a trickle of lukewarm water. The second night, nothing at all came out of the hot water faucet. I complained 4 times before taking a cold shower and asking for a refund. They would not give me a refund, saying that I never told them there was an issue. (!?!?) Huge scam. Also very loud. However, it was clean. I'd say you can get a cold shower somewhere a lot cheaper, though.

I booked this hotel because it sounded like it was in a good location. It was close to many restaurants and other hotels but the area was noisy and chaotic. The staff were pleasant and the rooms were average. Rooms were a bit dirty and the decor was simple. The breakfast was horrible. Luckily we were only booked in for 1 night.

We asked the manager to organise a trip from Delhi to various cities around India. He overcharged us but of course I didn't know this until after I had paid for it. The hotels he booked us into in Varanasi and Agra were awful. The worst place was Rathambore Park. We left one night early because the rooms were very cold and there wasn't any hot water. The hotel in Udaipur was lovely and the staff were kind. The most infuriating thing about the package Grand Godwin booked was that the manager had promised us one night's stay as part of our package. However after 2 weeks of travelling around and arriving back in Delhi, we were told that the manager could not be reached and that no room had been booked. I proceeded to find another hotel even though my husband and I were tired after a long car journey. Give this hotel a miss unless you have nowhere else to stay!

After a few hectic weeks in India, the Grand Gowdin's marble floors, gold fixtures and high-pressure hot showers were extremely welcome. The taxi tour of Delhi they organized was also great! Was it my favorite hotel ever? Not by a long shot. But I definitely enjoyed my stay and recommend it if you don't have anyplace else to stay. Close to New Delhi Railway Station.
