My son, daughter-in-law and I stayed at the Shangri-La Eros Hotel twice during the past two weeks. I have never slept in such a comfortable bed. I even checked to see how it had been made. The hotel was exceptional in all aspects. I highly recommend it.

Good hotel in Delhi, the dinner buffet was delicious the breakfast, however was just average. Overall, the service was five star. The rooms were fairly spacious and modern with good internet connection (until your allotted time run out, that is). The location is pretty good, walkable to the Rajpath.

I have stayed at this hotel a couple of times, and have not been disappointed. However, for the price one pays here and assuming availability of rooms elsewhere, there are better hotels to stay in Delhi (Leela, in my opinion, being the best)
Shangrila is comfortable, and at least the last time when we had reserved a deluxe double room, it was clean, comfortable, and spacious. The room service was average. The price of food ordered through room service is not worth it. However, their lunch buffet is one of the best in Delhi (as far as variety and quality of food, and when one has to satisfy various preferences with family and kids traveling). The location is quite convenient and is within walking distance to Connaught Place, and quite close to India Gate etc.
The service is a bit plus minus. Their staff need to be better trained, and need to be a bit proactive. The overall service (room/housekeeping etc. is average). Check-in and check-out however was smooth.
Overall, my conclusion is that for the money one is paying there are better choices in and around the same area, and elsewhere in Delhi. (also if you are traveling in summer months, because of the trees/water etc within the property bound, make sure you spray yourself well with a mosquito repellant!!!)

Room Tip: Request Room facing garden/pool and on a higher floor for better views

We stayed here for a recent trade fair in India. We were lucky to stay in a beautiful suite which included canapes, evening drinks in the lounge and breakfast. The canapes/ drinks and breakfast was a big dissappointment.
They didnt offer cocktails and the white wine was warm. The breakfast was just ok but having stayed at the Shangri La In Bangkok there is no comparison. ( See my review for this hotel)
The hotel and staff were lovely and the location was ideal in the diplomatic area.

The location good , it's old building refurbished very nicely , so rooms smaller side, overall look face is nice . But it's always the people working and mangers alertness , proactive approach matters , it appears that 70% of stuff is mourn , no one listen you ask for Dosa they forget sambar , you call house keeping to raplanish room tea they forget milk , than you ask them third time that we need sugar too.
Veg Food taste fish they have no proper reply .
Check in check out very smooth and quick , breakfast is okish .
We have spoiled ourself staying at Oberio hotels .i feel some times . But shangrila need to seriously look into traning of there people .
Never going try here again .

I have stayed at this hotel several times for business. On each occasion, the staff have been professional and courteous, the rooms have been clean and comfortable, the sound-proofing from neighbors and outside appreciated by a jet-lagged traveler, and the food and comforts provided greatly enjoyed. While I generally prefer to have a bit more character and a few more flaws, I have never regretted staying at this property when in New Delhi. It is conveniently located for South Delhi, is walking distance to Connaught Place for shopping and dining, and has always provided a really comfortable stay.

Oh Shangri-La, la la la. My Shangri-La groupie spirit has gone sky high again after a 3 night stay at this hard-to-fault hotel. A great fan of the Shangri-La friendly formal touch (an astute yet natural mix of perceiving a guests need for solitude as much as for pampering and attention), the attention to detail went off the radar here many times. Starting with the reception on arrival - how is it it that a host of unfamiliar faces can seem so familiar and friendly? Indian hospitality takes legendary Asian hospitality to another level, in my mind, to Himalayan-peaked hospitality heights.

Located in the heart of New Delhi, the swish property is in arms shot of the monumental India Gate, national museums, parliaments, embassies and minister's lodgings. Looking down from my lofty 17th floor room, I have a feeling of being on the dome of the Reichstag Berlin, looking over the Tiergarten ... green, green, bottle green spread to the horizon. Hotel taxis and tuk tuks take you out in every direction - to all the major sites - but so too does Delhi's hyper modern metro. Be warned, the crowds at a couple of stations can be horrendous - pink feet show the way to the women's carriage at the front of the trains.

My room was immaculately groomed, with rather typical Shangri-La wood heavy furnishings and classical fabrics, a glass windowed (screen separated) bathroom of marble and stone, top high tech fittings, and high speed wifi. The housekeeping service was excellent and on the ball at all times and the staff, as a general benchmark, astoundingly gracious.

Delhi-born, Portuguese blooded, English raised, Austrian citizened GM, (what a recipe for a worldly wise, open minded manager), David Hopcroft, runs a tight but tolerant and innovative ship.

The buffet breakfasts and lunches at Cafe Uno offer a vast choice of western and Indian, and thenF&B team go out of their way to ensure every wish and food requirement is met. I enjoy fantastic fresh breakfast dishes of Marsala dosa and onion and tomato uttapam, a northern Indian breakfast specialty.

The food at swish, glass-encircled, 19 Oriental Avenue, is out of this world - especially my Japanese dining experience but also the Thai food. Ingredients, presentation and authenticity are all beyond reproach. Unlike many Chinese restaurants in India, the Shangri-La does not meddle with or Indianise genuine flavours.

The spa is water-flowingly peaceful and connects up to the garden fringed outdoor swimming pool. Gym facilities (and staff) are excellent - with an ample spread of treadmills, bikes, weights and workout machines. Steam rooms, saunas and jacuzzi are available in both the men's and ladies change rooms. I did not test drive any treatments but the northern Indian massages are reputedly amazing.

Now to the 19th floor Horizon Club, Shangri-La's signature hotel within a hotel - a relaxation, sipping and sighting (amazing top floor views) sanctuary ... I always opt for breakfast at the main restaurant for the choice, the company and atmosphere. The Horizon Club however is a lovely early evening retreat or a great work space at any time of day or night; equipped with several noise-proof computer cubicles, the internet is high speed and all work stations come with a printer.

The staff here are like your personal butlers and butler-esses without a hint of pretentiousness. Whatever your need they can pretty much meet it ... Left your reading glasses in your room? What strength do you need mam? Broken SD card reader, let us see what we can do. You like gin, let me whip you up a special cocktail for you. Food, cakes, beverages are all laid on and served to you by lovely staff members who quickly become friends. (Dhanyawad Dev!)

My departure like my arrival is smooth and seamless thanks to the Shangri-La's limousine and airport welcome/departure service (they have a full time staff member there just to meet and greet and usher you to check in or to airport pickup). Please visit my website to find out more about my remarkable travelling and hotel life.
