Delhi was the last stop in our tour of northern India. Having stayed in many Shangri La hotels across Asia we were looking forward to some luxury on arrival at Delhi. We were allocated Room 301. If you are given this room, refuse it. It was noisy from lifts, the restaurant below, outside traffic and the emergency generator when the power cuts occurred. Next morning we asked to be moved, having not slept. We took an upgrade room which we were asked to pay extra for. After intervention from our travel company, Le Passage to India, this was resolved. It would not have left such a bitter taste if the hotel had offered the upgrade rather than have outside intervention but not to be.As for the rest, the hotel is lovely but a bit tired. Staff in the restaurant were poor, and compared to the service we had encountered across the rest of India, they seemed to lack training and supervision.
Overall, a disappointing end to our Indian holiday. Fortunately, we are now in Bangkok Shangri La where they do understand what makes a 5 star hotel which the Delhi Shangri La clearly does not.

We spent three nights here with a warm welcome. We opted to stay on the top floor and enjoyed the benefits of the Horizon Club. our 10 year old son travelled with us, and the hotel was very accommodating by supplying us with a comfortable bed and linen for him. The food and refreshments were great and the spa is certainly one of the best. After a hot day of visiting temples and markets, we were happy to retreat to the oasis in the middle of a bustling city.

Room Tip: It's worth paying a bit extra for the Horizon club, the views are spectacular

I'm a great fan of the Shhangri La hotels, and this one, although not as elegant as their Kowloon, Hong Kong hotel, does not disappoint. Rooms are handsome and have all the necessary ammenities. The buffet breakfast and dinner were excellent, having both Indian and Western specialities. Most important is that it is an oasis of quiet in bustling Delhi. The beds are very comfortable and I had a wonderful night's sleep after a 13 hour flight. My friend had a birthday while we were staying at the hotel. Hotel management noted this from his passport and sent up a huge bouquet of roses and a delicious chocolate cake. This came as a complete surprise but clearly indicates they care about their guests.

As an indian from abroad, all the staff ignored my wife. The breakfast staff were not friendly, a smile & some courtesy wouldn't have hurt.
A plus point was free wi-fi for guests. The location was good, the hotel was very secure.

Room Tip: The superior room we stayed in was very comfortable, clean & well proportioned

Not to be confused with the Hong Kong Shangri-La brand (different owners, different company) this hotel is, nonetheless, an excellent option in New Delhi. The rooms are nicely appointed, the breakfast is excellent and the gym/spa is the nicest hotel fitness center I've come across in many years of traveling with Cybex machines, free weights, cardio equipment, etc... A couple of small criticisms:
- the room is a little noisy: the TV made an odd sound and the AC was a bit loud.
- two occasions on a three night stay a porter knocked on my door just to see if I needed anything. Some people may like this but I found it odd.

I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone coming to New Delhi.

I stayed at the hotel for three nights on business, and overall is a sound 5 star property. I was picked up at the airport by Mukesh, who was charming and had a good sense of humour.

Upon arrival at the hotel, a warm greeting at the front desk and then an escort to my room by Mukesh and the lovely Monika, who explain everything to you and go great lengths to make you comfortable.

The room is sumptuous and comfortable, very impressive indeed. The bed was incredible.

I ordered room service the first night, lamb kebab and naan bread, was top notch.

Breakfast is very good, lots of choices, service impeccable.

I ate in the Asian restaurant one night, had sushi and dim sum. The sushi was not great actually, for a 5 star hotel I thought it was sub par, you get the same or better sushi at any average restaurant around the world. The dim sum was tasty.

The spa was fabulous, I had a Balinese massage and was probably the best experience I have ever had in a hotel spa.

Would stay again.

Fantastic location, fantastic staff right from reservations, front desk, housekeeping,, in-rrom dining to restaurants and spa.. the whole staff is very well trained and courteous.

I love to stay in Shangri-La, New Delhi.
Rooms are good. Veg buffet is often not-so-great, but, you have to just let the restaurant manager know your choices, and they will remember it for future stays as well.

I strongly advise that if you are staying anywhere in tht area.

Room Tip: Rooms towards left of the lift have a better layout and little more spacious. The corner roon, perha...
