Owner description: Hauz Khas village was known in the medieval period for the amazing buildings built around a reservoir and drew a large congregation of Islamic scholars and students to the Madrasa for Islamic education. Today, some of India's most prestigious institutes are situated in the neighborhood, including the Indian Institute of Technology, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences and the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade. The village itself retains its old-world charm, enhanced by well-manicured green parks planted with ornamental trees all around with walk ways, and surrounded by gentrified market and residential complexes which have sprung up around the old village. The reservoir itself has been reduced in size and well landscaped with water fountains. The village structure that existed in the medieval period was modernized in mid-1980s, projecting a quiet, upscale identity that attracts tourists from all parts of the world.

“The Hauz is khas”
Reviewed March 10, 2013

As the name itself says all. It is has a Hauz which is khas and then it is in the village around. However, people visiting Hauz Khas Villahe hardly know of the hauz; and come back after having food at any of the whole lot of eateries/ restaurants; and or after shopping, The restaurants here are now under the scanner of Delhi High Court for violating rules; though most of them serve very good food.
Believe me, visit the Hauz also; and you will love it (I do not why it is neglected by the tourists and Delhiites alike).

“Perfect place for an evening outing”
Reviewed March 6, 2013

Ruins from the 2nd city of Delhi, lake, cafe's, restaurants, designer boutiques, poster shops and lots. If these things interest you then Hauz khas village is a place to go. I love to go to the restaurants there, sit in the open area, drink a beer or two, eat something light and then go by the lake and sit there till I don't get bored( actually I never get bored of this place) in a lazy afternoon. Restaurants are good and they serve some of the best foods you can get in the city. The small boutiques and shops are unique in concept and design. My favorite is the poster shop. The only problem is that it's a bit crowdy.

“Neat historic site, cute market, great shopping and food”
Reviewed March 5, 2013

It was such a delight to visit this cute shopping/historical site! Fabulous ruins, a lake, high-end shopping, and hip foodie dives/rooftop dining. Highly recommend it as an oasis from other shopping areas in Delhi. Favorite store: A Touch of Gold. Wow. Great stuff! Also found a neat vintage Bollywood poster shop.
