Owner description: Hauz Khas village was known in the medieval period for the amazing buildings built around a reservoir and drew a large congregation of Islamic scholars and students to the Madrasa for Islamic education. Today, some of India's most prestigious institutes are situated in the neighborhood, including the Indian Institute of Technology, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences and the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade. The village itself retains its old-world charm, enhanced by well-manicured green parks planted with ornamental trees all around with walk ways, and surrounded by gentrified market and residential complexes which have sprung up around the old village. The reservoir itself has been reduced in size and well landscaped with water fountains. The village structure that existed in the medieval period was modernized in mid-1980s, projecting a quiet, upscale identity that attracts tourists from all parts of the world.

“Nice place to spend a lazy afternoon”
Reviewed December 22, 2012

I always wanted to visit it cos i had heard from a couple of my friends that this is the place to buy some good quriky things. I did find a nice Sholay Poster which i have wanted for ages. I dragged my wife there and she also after sometime started enjoying the place.

Do check out Nappa Dori which is a small place and we loved the store. There are many places to go and i loved the small lanes in which you can get lost in. Prices are a bit on the higher side but bargaining is accepted.

Would love to spend more time in the cafes when there next time.

“Rome in india”
Reviewed December 22, 2012

It is like ROME dotted with the most exclusive fashion houses of India.this place definitely appears out of India.Go in the evening to have that feeling but if you want to see Historic sights as well ,start late in the afternoon, its the famous HAUZ [hamam ,great bath] located here which is worth seeing.
ALSO TRY--the food here is awesome, rates are a bit steep but its worth the taste and ambiance.
we tried balluci - kebabs and tikkas are mind boggling.end with the faluda.

“Gunpowder Restaurant”
Reviewed December 21, 2012

This restaurant is in a fun little part of Delhi where you can actually walk around. It is hard to find (look for arrows on the big groups of signs), but it is worth the search. It offers excellent food and a beautiful view over the city. Try their pumpkin curry!

“An art village admist New Delhi modern mall”
Reviewed December 21, 2012

Went to Hauz Khas village twice. Once for dinner late evening and the shops in the village were already closed by then. Visited the Ballucci Park Restaurant serving Indian food. Portion was too big as I went alone but on the whole the food was rather good. Service was fast and very friendly and helpful manager at the restaurant.
Went back earlier the next night and had southern Indian food vegetarian at Naivedyam. Food was normal but service was also good. Went for a walk around the shopping village and saw very nice shops and boutiques from local designers but did not buy anything as my shopping was already done at other places by then.
A great place for an evening out in New Delhi with good variety of shops and many restaurants servicing international cuisines.
