Arrived at the hotel greeted by pleasant staff did not expect such a large room. The food was great.

We recently booked into the hotel having seen that they had wheelchair access. In fact they DO NOT!

Hotel Vikram in Delhi does not have any facility for wheelchair access other than one room having a bathroom door wide enough to enter with wheelchair and a toilet on the ground floor with the same, other than that it fails to provide every aspect of wheelchair access:

Here is a list of faults:

1. Entry slope is nearly 30 degrees and very long. This is more than three times the allowable angle and is very dangerous. Even in dry conditions with a small person the attendant would have to run up the stairs to get in. There is no chance of self propelling or using an electric chair. Using it in wet conditions would be extremely dangerous.
2. Lift is too small for a wheelchair with or without attendant. The chair has to be jammed in sideways and there is a good chance of hurting the feet of the wheelchair occupant.
3. Lobby level toilet had good space and wide door but has low toilet and no hand rails.
4. Bed-Room is at end of corridor far from the emergency exit.
5. En-suite bathroom - In the room the bathroom door is a good size but the area in the bathroom is too small for wheelchair to manoeuvre.
6. There is a bath-tub instead of shower cubicle. People who cannot use their legs cannot enter a bath-tub safely without mechanical lifting equipment. Showers with seating and hand-rails are the correct normal arrangement
7. The toilet is very low.
8. There is insufficient space for wheelchair next to toilet.
The bed is too low.
Swimming pool area in-accessible.
The swimming pool is not accessible (even for the elderly a set of steps into the pool with a hand-rail is a must).

This hotel should stop advertising that it has wheelchair accessible facilities as the hotel is the opposite of accessible despite having made an attempt to provide these facilities. One good feature was a designated parking area for the disabled.

As we approached the door of the wheelchair "accessible" room the staff member knocked on the door which was puzzling as the room was supposed to be un-occupied. The reason was clear when we entered the we found it smelled strongly of smoke this is despite the whole 1st floor being a non-smoking area. The room is obviously used by the staff as an un-official smoke room. It stank very heavily of smoke.

Having said all this we found the staff very helpful. They tried to find a room with a wider door for the bathroom with shower but this was not possible and I ended up having to cope with transferring my wife manually into the bathroom which is not easy in a small bathroom. The senior staff promised to pass my complaints to the management and actively pursue remedying the faults. As a hotels licence is renewed only once the fulfil the government regulations that they must provide an wheelchair accessible room they might want to implement these changes with some urgency.

The breakfast was ok but nothing to boast about. Poor quality jam which is standard in nearly all hotels in India.

Swimming pool had a ladder and no steps and beside that to get to it there was a flight of steps to get to this area. The area around the pool is bleak and un-attractive.

Room Tip: Do not use this hotel for its wheelchair accessible room as it is most definitely not accesible.

hi got stay at this hotel and departed on 13th June of this month, was very happy and fully satisfied with the hotel services. Room was good and food quality was also very good. One thing that let me down was that the reception staff must inform each and every guest about the hotel facilities upon arrival itself as because we are here for business trip and internet availability should have been informed to me without asking, which later on I came to know through Mr. Navaneet on break fast that too on my departure day. If informed earlier would have been more usefull to me. Apart from this my stay was really excellent and would convey my special thanks to Mr. Navaneet for being so supportive.

I got to stay at this for a couple of night as I was on a business trip. As far as location of the hotel is concerned is the one of the best as it it located in the heart of the city and well connected via metro rail. Though the hotel is quite old but has retained the old colonial design which is quite amazing. Front Desk staff needs to be trained more along with proper product knowledge along with city know how. Food quality was excellent with good service standard. Would like to mention particularly about the House Keeping staff who were particularly very helpful and couteous, in the particularly the the House Keeping Manager with specs who could be located in all parts of the hotel through out . He was very helpful not only pertaining to room facilities but to other department requirement also be it food or travel desk.

Its really good hotel. Food, room service and really good. We got a room which has good outside view and we really enjoyed it. Quality of food is good and very tasty. I feel the food is overpriced by about 20% but okay it should not be a problem.

Room Tip: Good hotel and nice service..

Hotel Vikram what can I tell you. I like the old colonial style of the hotel it has some ambiance. Its handy for the metro and easy for taxi's and tuk tuk's. When I stayed the elevators were playing up and so were the computerized room keys. So you would walk up to the 3rd floor try your room walk all the way down again to have your key reset. Staff were very cheerful but not quite on the ball. Everything took longer than it should have. So you want an internet code which is expensive you need to wait until this afternoon and so on. Food is ok but not great. Typical combination of indian common dishes and a few western for some reason in India there is always a Chinese section in the menu too. Rooms were not super clean but water was warm often rare in a hotel of this caliber in India. All in all probably would not choose to stay again.

Room Tip: There is no spa and fitness centre. If the escalators are giving problems stay on the lower floors u...
