Amazing view of the lake and the tomb. Topped with good food and service. And generally they have some or the other gig happening. So check it out.

Location , Location , Location !!
They say , location is one of the key aspects for the success of any restaurant. And that’s one reason why we were so pleased to walk into or rather climb up to Mia Bella.

Mia Bella , situated on the top floors of the building opening up to a beautiful terrace overlooking the lake , Mia bella perhaps has the best view of the lake among all restaurants at hauzkhas village ,spend an enjoyable evening with your loved one or just chill with friends overlooking an extremely serene view of Delhi’s forest cover , Location here is the winner !

Serving above average cocktails ( as per the standards of the HKV) , A great view , laidback (read sloppy) service , and a menu which has more miss than the hits is somewhere fitting the bill of being an average watering hole of the village with a view which beat others in the race.

Calling itself a GastroPub , Only increases the expectations one keeps from its food, and that’s where I felt the exact gap lies in the concept.

GastroPub on one hand tries to promote and serve the BRAAI style ( the barbecue cuisine from south Africa ) food across various courses , Their BRAAI products were brilliant , niceflavors and marinade giving a distinct taste to the barbecued preparations. On the other hand however, apart from the south African dishes the rest of the menu is quite avoidable.

Peri Peri Chicken and the chicken sosaties were the highlights of the first course , chicken sosaties had a smoky flavor and an irresistible flavor from the south African marinade.

We also loved the Brazilian sausages , which was served with an amazing salsa. Well roasted and spiced sausages were the perfect accompaniment to the zesty drinks which we had along side.

Apart from a couple of barbecued south African dishes and the Brazilian sausages , the rest of the food didn’t impress us much , and to be honest , had we not have gimmicked ourselves by believing the gastropub claims of the restaurant, we wouldn’t have been much surprised, However, people enjoying many cafes for their beautiful view and offcourse alcohol have no complains for the mediocre food , Most of the times.
Cocktails were above average however, the bartenders are very immature in understanding the guest preferences, in conducting pleasant conversations and to quit chewing gums while shaking cocktails.

Music strategy , being considered a life line for any good pub ,has scope of improvement to ensure the music is enjoyable. The sound system is not very effective especially at the terrace, and the choice of musicians will be an important task to make people throng mia bella to enjoy music.

So, while I was happy that we have restaurants with such brilliant views , I would call it safe to visit Mia Bella , enjoy a sunset evening , sipping cocktails , beers or other drink of your choice and enjoy the delectable south African cuisine, however, swaying from this agenda can only be done at one’s own peril.
In my opinion, Mia bella can work a lot on their culinary strategy , more use of the BRAAI caddy as well as decide the kind of cuisine to do, if they do continue to serve various cuisines of the world, they better do it good , or in some cases atleast make it palatable. So food as well as the food strategy need attention.

Trained staff remains a challenge, very lazy attitude towards service and table service etiquettes always remain an important factor, be it a fine dining restaurant or a laidback pub.

Overall, Mia Bella is recommended to those certain times when you want to enjoy a brilliant view and sip a quite drink. Or to those people, who have learnt to compromise with the food along the lines.
I am hoping to see Mia bella improving on what is to be improved and capitalize on the beautiful location they’ve got !!

P.S Mia Bella means “My Beautiful” !! While “Blonde” means a Beauty gasping for some brains !!

Funky bar/restaurant in the up-market Hauz Khas Village area. Mia Bella has open rooftop (as well as indoor air conditioned) seating that overlooks the Hauz Khas Tank and ruins of the 13th Century structures. Plays *mostly* unobnoxious pop and dance music and offers a variety of international and local cuisine and cocktails.
