We visited the Cafe Coffee Day at Connaught Place during our trip to Delhi in early January and enjoyed the Cafe Mocha ordered there. Cafe Coffee Day is basically India's version of Starbucks and more or less follows this business model, offering a similar menu of drinks and foods in a coffee shop configured and laid out in the conventional Starbucks manner. So, while this coffee franchise name might be unknown to foreign visitors, you sort of already know what to expect.
We tried a Cafe Mocha (95r or US$1.45) and it was fine. It tasted just like a Mocha is supposed to taste, anywhere you order it (rating 3 of 5). We found the service here to be efficient and hard-working, they were not terribly friendly but thats fine for us as the mocha drink was served quickly.
The Cafe Coffee Day shop decor was modern, slightly trendy and nice overall. The shop was rather busy when we visited, making it difficult to find a place to sit. Seats were on the small side, like other coffee franchise seating arrangements in much of Asia, but they were comfortable enough.
Overall, we liked Cafe Coffee Day and would have no problem stopping again for other coffee drinks and would happily order the Cafe Mocha again. Based on our visit, it seemed a good option for those seeking international standard coffee drink orders.
Hint: If too busy, there is a Costa Coffee shop just two stores down from Cafe Coffee Shop. This also makes a good option in the Connaught Place area.
