“Disappointing”
Reviewed August 24, 2013

I was waffling between giving this restaurant an overall 2 or a 3. I finally decided to settle on the 3, because for a normal, middle class family, this place is not bad. The atmosphere is casual, and is very child friendly. It could get noisy, and if you are seeking a serious discussion, then this may not be the place. However, it has the atmosphere if you want to have a casual evening out.

We had the famous peri-peri chicken, the peri-peri hummus and pita bread, chicken wings and Roasted Vegetable and Paneer Meal.
The hummus and pita bread was good, I must say. It had a nice flavour.
The chicken wings had no taste
The rice in the vegetarian dish was oily, and it took some time for the oily flavour to leave my mouth.
The peri-peri chicken was the biggest disappointment. While the meat was soft, the peri-peri sauce flavour was, literally, skin deep. The meat itself was bland and had no flavor.
This restaurant visit was disappointing, and the only reason I give it a three star is for the atmosphere and the service. Go for this, the reputation, but not the food.

“Once may be..because of the hype but never again”
Reviewed August 14, 2013

Be prepared to wait in a long queue for about 30-40 minutes. The restaurant does not take Telebooking nor has the courtesy to take cell number to inform about the availability of table, making you wait at their door, and undermining the experience of an evening/lunch.
The decor is nice and pictures on the wall fascinating but the biggest struggle is the service and the food. Seating is not very comfortable, and bare look is maintained by absence of both table mats and tablecloth. The paper napkins on offer are rationed and if you run out of them, make a request and wait. Waiting and patience is what you need here in plenty from entry to billing.
For four guests, two glasses arrived. After request, one more and then the last one took even longer which came with water dripping. The dinner plates are small, making you adjust your chicken and other dishes, somehow.
The food except their signature and over-hyped sauce is not very appetising and is a strange melange of signature chicken dish, salad, rice, burger, pitta, potato wedges, fries, garlic bread, etc. Ordering a meal for yourself from these is a struggle with almost no assistance forthcoming from the waiters.
The choice for vegetarians is largely confined to paneer. Vegetarian espetada is served on a nice hanging skewer but the flavour is what is the missing ingredient. This is true for almost everything on offer.
The signature dishes are rather dry and mainly consists of roasted chicken doused with sauce, on the surface, while rest of the dish is bland inside, leaving you at the mercy of more sauce. In fact, the only thing that excites the waiters are the sauces which they proudly bring and announce but that does little to remedy the rest For explaining other dishes on the menu, confusion abounds. Meal for four without drinks and dessert cost 2500, which does not justify the kind of service and food on offer. Once only to check out the hype but never again!

“Consistent”
Reviewed August 10, 2013

The menu is limited as it is with Nandos world wide. The chicken is nicely grilled and the peri peri sauce (extra hot of course!) tickled the palate. So did the home cut fries with the peri peri salt, corn on the cob and mashed peas.

The airconditioning was too cold and we froze for a while but they did respond and turned it down. The only problem was the Heineken - nicely chilled but flat! But the steward came up, introduced himself and replaced the beer without any fuss.

All in all a consistent Nando's experience. We went on a Saturday for lunch, a bit early so we got a table immediately. Later we saw a long queue building up.

Clearly Delhi's appetite for spicy chicken is still building!

“Not as great as the Nandos Repo...”
Reviewed August 7, 2013

The name itself drives you to the great peri peri experience, the food here is nice but not as compared to the ones available internationally. The recipes seem to be indianised more or less to suit the local taste but then the originality goes. Although worth waiting the long que to get your butterfly breasts, but it is not worth travelling every weekend.

“good for the experience”
Reviewed August 4, 2013

It was good first experience at Nandos, Delhi (though a bit different from the London ones). The food was very good, service was very good and freindly staff, nice ambience/decor. Being a world resturant, lot of expats were present. Can see long waiting ques over week ends. Has hand wash basins in the main sitting area, though looks very convenient, they can do without it since it already has seperate washrooms. Large sitting areas (many covers) with a couple of one step levels - which surely looks nice but they need to highlight the steps, since not very visible due to floor tiles being dark coloured. As a result, could pose some problems for the old / differently abled guests. As expected, food is very continental and nice (pita bread and humus is great), but for first timer the menu seems to be too confusing (though the staff is very helpful in making you select your choice). The portions are very big so I would say it is a good value for money (I could see many guests getting the left over food packed - including us). Kindly order keeping that in mind. One suggestion - they would need to add more food options in long run (very quickly) since aparently could not think of many options for a re-visit - pork, lamb & fish can be good starting point in case they do it overseas.
