this fort on the banks of the Yamuna gives an idea of the grandeur of the Mughal Sultans - the grounds outside becomes alive during Independence day and other national events.

I recently visited Red Fort after a long time, and we really liked the exterior which looks just majestic with Indian national flag hoisted. The architecture is really praise worthy with good carvings in Diwan e Khas and Diwan e Aam. The museum inside is also worth a visit if you are interested in the history of Mughals. I liked the jharokha (Windows) in the Diwan e Khas which was really innovative way in ancient times to fight the heat. It can get really crowded and very hot in the afternoons,so, prefer mornings. However, its poorly maintained with dirt everywhere (empty bottles, wrappers, paper). There is a nominal entry fee of Rs. 20 for Indians and Rs. 250 for foreigners..

Red fort is an icon of delhi..a must visit fort of delhi..built by mughal emperor in 19th century..
Very close to old delhi railway station/chandni chowk metro station..now a days this fort needs little more maintenance and care. Though there are so many things which were re-constructed but need more re-construction to maintain its beauty and glory.
Any one can buy guide book from inside the fort to know it better

A worthwhile visit in Delhi, though perhaps only one or two of the buildings are outstanding in their own right. We thought the carvings and murals in the Diwan-i-Khas (throne room) were particularly exquisite. The main reason for visiting is probably to experience the scale of the site as a whole. Doing this is made harder by the Indian obsession of cordoning areas off and over-barriering areas that probably need no barriers at all. This reduces a very wide location into, in effect, a narrow one. It would be worth the authorities giving some more thought to how best to blend together the different aspects of the site to make for a more enjoyable (and longer) visit.

was really well done , saw the english one , but I think that Hindi one might have been better . The show has a lot of musquitos , so better to carry cream or smart phone app for buzzing them ( welcome to technology ) . Also no eatables are allowed inside the fort , no water available , and , is a good idea to carry some water with you. A major walk from main gate , so be in a good shape . its dark , so best to carry a torch or a smart phone app ......
