Radisson Blu Plaza Delhi Airport
Ranked #39 of 715 Hotels in New Delhi
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed December 31, 2012

It is rare these days to stay in a hotel without any hassles of some kind or the other. Well, Radisson Blu Plaza is one of those rare hotels. After I discovered this gem in September (see my review dated 25th Sept), I have now stayed here 4 times and made this my regular place to crash whenever I am in Delhi. Besides being extremely convenient to the airport (with their complimentary pickup and drop), it is right on the highway to take you to other parts of Delhi or Gurgaon in no more time than any other hotel in Delhi. This hotel offers an excellent breakfast buffet spread, airport transfers and wifi, all inclusive in your room rate, no ifs buts or other terms and conditions buried in fine print in your confirmation.

The breakfast buffet here is one of the best I have experienced anywhere in the world, and is a reason alone perhaps to stay here. The spread is some of the most varied and innovative, all served and offered with a smile on everyone's face. Besides the usual standard items in all such buffets, it is the hot, fresh Indian fare that changes daily, that takes the cake! I have never seen hot khasta kachoris, piping hot kallapams, melt in the mouth rawa idlis and the best sabudana khichdi (after my Mom's) in any other hotel in India. Hotels in North India are not exactly known for their south Indian fare (almost unpalatable in most cses), but here Chef Shekhar cooks up amazing dosas, uttapamas and daily change items that rival what you may expect in Chennai! The khasta kachoris were so good and such a favorite of mine, that manager Yatin made it a point to have it available for me every morning even when it was not the menu. He, along with my regular waiter Ukarsha and steward Vijay were just outstanding in their service.

In fact, from the moment you step out of the hotel limo, you are surrounded by staff and managers with a genuine smile and a real desire to be of help. You can almost touch the warmth pervading this place. I have been to over 80 countries, stay more than 90 days in hotels in a year, experienced all the major hotel chains and many independent hotels, and it is clear that real hospitality in this industry is very rare. Most of the time it is a 'put on' to either extract more from the guest or to make him feel good superficially. Here you can feel the difference. Small gestures like complimentary drinks voucher add to the overall feeling of being welcomed.

After my initial review and complaint about being served bottled water instead of filtered water, almost every staff member remembers that! However, the hotel still has ways to go before it can eliminate bottled water and the pile of plastic resulting from it. It just flies in the face of being a 'Green' hotel.

As a Gold member I now get upgraded to a Deluxe room that is slightly larger and has a bath tub along with a shower stall. However, the shower and the tub are poorly planned. There is no glass barrier between the two, as a result, while taking the shower, the tub gets all wet and dirty and also the water spills all over the floor making a mess. Similarly, the shower door does not open if you place a mat outside it, creating a further mess. This is a major drawback in the bathroom. Also, in some of the rooms I have stayed, there is an overhanging cabinet above the luggage rack, and I have managed to bump my head into its sharp corner many times. It is totally misplaced. However, in my present room (366), the cabinet is blissfully missing! Not sure what happened!

They have one of the best gyms I have used in a hotel, along with a very relaxing Spa that does not have outrageous prices.

Radisson has a 100% satisfaction guarantee, and the picky traveller that I am, I have invoked it a couple of times in other locations. Here, you will not find any reason to do that. They have truly put the money where their mouth is and stand behind it, and that is why I keep coming back and have now made this my regular place in Delhi.

Radisson Blu situated outside IG airport is a superb option for an airport break. Free transportation provided to and from airport. Well designed lobby. Comfortable rooms with free toiletries. Though my room overlooked the highway there was no noise. Three dining options that are open late including a 24 hour coffee shop. Breakfast buffet had plenty of Indian and western dishes. Fitness center well equipped with steam and dry sauna. There is also an onsite spa. Availed of haircut services when I was staying.

I spent a night in between transit at this hotel, in Delhi . It is pricey but the ambience and services are worth the money. Airport transfers and breakfast buffet included in the package provides for a relaxed experience. The choice in the Breakfast Buffet was sumptous. There is nothing much to do in the vicinity of the hotel except a busy highway and roadside shops. The wireless internet was free. Overall we were satisfied with our stay at this property.

Absense of one and following a defined process created anxious-uncomfortabel moments... a hotel of this class can do much better in terms of being in touch with the guest and the way they respond to people.
The rooms are good and the spread at the breakfast was good too.

We stayed at the airport Rad Blu on our last 2 nights of our 3 week vacation and were immediately cocooned in comfort and quiet upon arrival by the efficient and courteous staff. The complimentary breakfast buffet contained a vast selection of high quality foods (indian and non-indian) and also made to order items. The pastry shop boasted the most beautiful collection of delicious confections we have ever seen and they package them nicely so you can enjoy them with the tea/coffee provided in your room. A free limo was provided to the airport within a minute's notice for the 10 minute ride. 1/2 hour distance to the center of New Delhi was also a plus. The value for money was excellent.

Room Tip: I asked for a very quiet room and got 237 which was next to a wall! I almost cried from happiness

Excellent room. Very spacious and impressive lobby. Very thoughtfully placed self help breakfast in the lobby for early morning check out guests. Stayed only for a few hours! So sad! Very courteous staff eventhough they should put more number of staff early morning to make check out more smoother.

I happened to stay recently at the "Original" and oldest Radisson Hotel in Delhi. They aren't building Hotels like this anymore - stately, grand and extremely spacious. It is the closest 5* hotel to Delhi Airport and I had complimentary airport transfers in my reservation. Which meant that 5 min after I rolled out my luggage trolley out of the terminal, the car was pulling into the driveway of the hotel. The beautiful chandeliers and the rich lobby are awesome. There was a large group checking in and the staff at the check-in desk as well as the concierge desk seemed to be not as efficient and alert as they should be. Probably over-worked, this being an Airport hotel.
The room was well furnished, spacious and modern. The breakfast had the widest collection I had seen for a long time in India. On the whole, the staff looked young, well-meaning, helpful and very pleasant.
Unless one needs to be closer to some other parts of the city, it would be a shame not to stay in this hotel, every time one visits Delhi.
