Reviewed December 7, 2012

The rooms are clean and spacious, reception area very tired, there is a lot of noise but it is well muffled in the rooms, partocuilarly if you leave the A/C humming away. Breakfast was acceptable but the lunch menu is either an overpriced buffet or an uninspiring western sandwich ... no outside space which is disappointing as there is a terrace which could be utilised. Lifts are also hit and miss, very ancient and slow dont take the wrong one from the restauramt as you'll be lost in the business place next door

This hotel needs urgently some upgrade: lobby is very small and quite ordinary. I could notice a mouse running nearby the outside window...
There is no fitness center at all and that is clearly not acceptable when you are on a business trip.
Avoid the place except for overnight stay

I stayed here in December 2011 and after over 24 hours of travel it was indeed a welcome sight. At first I thought the incessant traffic noise to be a fault until the next day when I realized that no matter where you go the music (or torture) of blaring car horns is the soundtrack of modern India. The hotel doesn't occupy the entire building but rather a few floors. (I accidentally wound up in a service elevator for the locals and it was anything but inviting). Breakfast buffet, while obviously priced for tourists, is tasty and safe. The Italian restaurant, while not exactly authentic was good enough and was clean with a modern decor. The rooms were also in modern decor though it was apparent that it was mostly a veneer over shabbiness, which again is typical of India. My only complaint was paying for Wifi, but other than that it was clean, and secure and also located within easy walking distance to the metro, which ironically is the cleanest and most orderly place I encountered in the entire country.
The Ritz Carlton it is not, but if you need a base of operations for exploring a much-more-interesting-than-anticipated city, The Hans is a satisfactory choice at a reasonable price.

I stayed at Hans Hotel for almost 3 weeks while I was in Delhi on a business trip. We had selected the hotel as it was very conveniently located (walking distance from cannaught place and the metro station). This is an old hotel (evident from the fact that the lifts aren't great and rooms do not have door bells).

Some of the negatives include a bad (rather pathetic) front desk which is not co-ordinated with the reservation wing. As a result, one has to show e-mails of confirmations/ asked to make advance payments etc. The food is also isn't great and the buffet breakfast is pretty ordinary and pretty much the same each day.

However, the stay is quite comfortable, especially if you consider the lower rates as compared to some other hotels located nearby.Rooms are spacious and give a good view of the city as they are on higher floors. Definitely a good place to stay if you are looking for a decently priced place near the cannaught place area. Staff (other than some at the reception) are courteous and very helpful.

Room Tip: Higher you go, better the rooms are

I've stayed in Delhi many times but this was the first at Hans, the experience much better than expected; big, airy room on 16th floor, good shower, comfy bed, attentive staff and excellent room service. No, its not the Leela, Claridges or Imperial but if you're looking for a comfortable hotel at a third of the cost then this is a good one

This hotel was a base for our family on our trip and we stayed at the Hans on 3 different occasions. At first we were booked in rooms on the 20th floor which we found good but on subsequent visits, we were allocated rooms on the 18th and 17th floors which were definitely not as good.

The services is satisfactory but if I visit Delhi again, I will not be tempted to stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for the 20th floor rooms only. Visit the restaurant for good food, but prices are a bit steep.
