My wife and I stayed at the Taj twice during a month long trip throughout India, which was organized by Greaves Travel [who are outstanding]. The Taj is centrally located and nicely appointed. We stayed in one of their Club Rooms, which gets you personalized service and use of a room where breakfast is served for floor guests and complimentary drinks are available in the evenings. Service is the Taj's strong point. Simply flawless. The hotel rooms are well appointed but tend to be smaller that one would expect. We recommend this hotel. The only reason it does not merit 5 stars is that the public rooms, while refined, lack pizazz.

Room Tip: Go for a Taj Club Room

Spent the last few days of our India trip here. As we started the holiday at the Imperial Hotel we were curious how the Taj would compare. We booked a two night package which included a massage for each of us and a cookery lesson from the Varq chefs. Offered somewhat better value than the Imperial. Room also nice, not overly spacious bathroom but nice color scheme. Were in 11th floor, so had a good view direction golf course. The Taj has a somewhat livelier atmosphere than the Imperial, it may be more business focused but that is no disadvantage. There are nice coffee areas in the Lobby, breakfast room also has good design and offers good choice. Weather was slightly cool so the nice pool area could not be taken advantage of - Early March is better travel season in N India if you want to unwind at the pool after the sights. Dinner in Varq very nice, this is fine dining Indian style. Spa/Sauna/Steam good, bit tight space - esp given the size of the hotel, but as not many people seem to visit this did not matter. Top marks for Pramod in Guest Reception - super friendly/led us to the room upon arrival and also showed great interest in our well-being afterwards.

One of the best hotels one can stay in.
The ambience, the rooms, the quality of service, friendliness of staff (from chauffers to reception to room service to butler) all really commendable.
Taj, as its name stands, have lived up to their reputation.
I shall definitely stay here and all other Taj properties again and again.

This is the 4th. time I've stayed at the Taj Mahal Mansingh, and it is quite something. Spectacular views over Lutyens New Delhi, outstanding service and every comfort. Just a slight danger of being cocooned, so do get out and explore. They don't make it easy just to walk out, but get a map and head to Khan market, Lodhi Gardens, India Gate or get the metro or a tuk-tuk to Connaught Place. Even get to the red fort and old Delhi, see some of the excitement, colour and drama that Delhi has to offer. That will make the splendours of the hotel even more enjoyable.

Room Tip: If you can get a deal go for the Club floors, where you can get free drinks and breakfast in the clu...

My husband and I stayed at the Taj Mahal Hotel in New Delhi for a week in January, and it was the most amazing hotel experience of our lives. Every detail of the hotel is exemplary, from the fun, glitzy lobby to the comfortable rooms and warm, friendly service. Everyone who works there is helpful and fun, with no pretensions. We stayed in one of the Taj Club rooms, which gave us access to a wonderful breakfast and elegant afternoon tea in a lovely upper floor library-style room. Our room was overseen by a butler, who served our hallway, and he was very helpful. We had a great bed, lovely linens, a comfy loveseat and chair, large desk, coffeemaker and minibar, TV with many channels, and a nice bathroom with a super tub/shower. They give you bottled water, but also reassure you that all the water in the hotel is filtered. (We brushed our teeth with the bottled water, but didn't worry about the shower, etc. Nobody got Delhi Belly.) New Delhi is a city of trees, and the view from our room was like overlooking a beautiful woods, even though we were near the India Gate. The hotel has a number of wonderful restaurants, patronized by local people as well as the guests. The Indian restaurant, Varq, is superb; some of the others are very expensive. It was fun to sit in the lobby in the evening and watch the parade of beautiful Indian women in stunning saris, headed to the many society events that are held in the hotel. (Smart casual wear is perfectly acceptable everywhere in the hotel, though it's fun to dress up more in the evening.) The only caveats would be the extra daily charge for internet, which seems churlish at these room prices, and the exorbitant fee they charge for a car and driver to go to Agra to see the Taj Mahal. (You can arrange your own trip there for one-tenth of the price.) Apart from these details, the Taj Mahal Hotel is one of the world's great hotels. Get there if you can.

Room Tip: All of the rooms have lovely views. We liked the side that looked toward the India Gate, but the poo...
