“Very Good Hotel - Friendly and Courteous Service - But Expensive!”
Reviewed November 22, 2013

Stayed a night in November. Hotel was packed and got reservation with some difficulty. However even the standard room with breakfast and standard wireless connectivity cost me Rs. 15,000 ++. This is more than twice the price that I paid a week ago at Hotel Lalit - which incidentally is more centrally located. Taj Palace is however closer to the Airport.
The Service is extremely good - friendly and courteous and staff is genuinely out to assist in making your stay comfortable - be it swiftly and silently picking up all your luggage the moment you arrive, ensuring check-in efficiently and smilingly, being responsive to your needs and even the restaurant staff quietly but surely attends to your needs. Full Marks to Each and Every Taj Person I Encountered!
The Hotel may need some refurbishing - a colleague of mine - who incidentally checked into a Suite - had a disturbing experience of lights unexpectedly blinking on and off - almost like a Disco! At 4.30 am!! The Management was rightly apologetic, but my colleague had a disturbed night and sleep loss. The Hotel would do well to undertake an Audit of all it's Basic Infrastructure - else the problem could balloon out of control!

Room Tip: Take some time out to have a Leisurely Breakfast here - the spread is luxurious!

Dear Guest,

Greetings from Taj Palace, New Delhi!

Thank you for your kind feedback. Incidentally Taj Palace is uniquely located in Lutyens, Delhi which makes all the Government Ministries, Prime Minister’s Secretariat, Embassies accessible in a shorter time span than the hotel that you have named. At the same time, we are only 10 – 15 minutes away from the international terminal. Additionally, Taj Palace is situated in the greenest part of the city, overlooking the Western ridge and reserve forest. This is a benefit that no other hotel in the city can boast of.

We thank you for your compliments with regard to our service and will ensure that your kind words reach our staff.

Finally, the malfunctioning of lights in your colleague’s room was brought to my attention and we were able to track down the root cause of this problem which was caused due to frequent electricity outages, that resulted in the module of that room getting tripped. This has been addressed since then, by modifying the load distribution in all the rooms.

With best regards,

Service "par excellence"! Basically you only have to let go and embrace the omnipresent, friendly and supportive service. The room was great with an inviting view on the pool. The business lounge was very accommodating and provided a pleasant environment to work in. The fitness is very well equiped with more than enough free floor space to confuct my customary exercises. The pool is large enough to swim some serious and unhindered milage. No one seems to swim. Room and butler service was very good and in trying not to be repetitive the food was as the reader expects "Caressingly palatable, despite its sincerely appreciated intrinsic spicyness". Highly recommended, and I shall definitively return.

Stayed in two different rooms during the fortnight as touring. Both very different-one more traditional & one very modern but both very luxurious & comfortable.
The standard & choice of food was high. The hotel was beautifully decorated & there were candles & stunning flower displays - some for Diwali. The staff were very helpful - organising transport & suggesting venues, sights etc

We stayed three nights here, not consecutive nights as we were on an organised tour.
We had different rooms every time, the best overlooking the garden and pool the others not. The quality of them did differ, the first above having the better layout.
I loved the pool, being surprisingly deep at 10 feet. (a bit surprised but NO DIVING) I think you'd have to be a dim to injure yourself diving into water that deep but know doubt some has!! I had it all to myself on one occasion.
The hotel has four restaurants. We only tried one as we were always a bit pushed for time. The one we chose was a bit dated inside but the buffet was adequate both at breakfast and dinner. The others looked inviting and one had a restaurant in a 'Pullman' car although I thought some artistic licence was in evidence.
The whole place is immaculate, the staff attentive, smartly turned out and always helpful. The hotel is gated so very secure being in the diplomatic area so a taxi is required to visit the centre of the city. Thoroughly recommended.

Room Tip: Choose one overlooking the garden and pool

Dear Guest,

Greetings from Taj Palace, New Delhi !

At the outset, we would like to thank you for your feedback in the Trip Advisor. It is only your valuable comments and suggestions that help us in our continuous endeavor to make improvements.

I have noted your comments with regard to the pool and ours is perhaps the largest pool in any hotel in Delhi. The ‘No Diving” signage is a statutory requirement by law irrespective of the depth of the pool.

It is a pity that you did not get to try out the restaurant with the Pullman car which is one of the most awarded restaurants globally. It is the Orient Express which serves continental cuisine and the coach inside is an exact replica of the Orient Express Pullman car as was in 1983, when the restaurant was built. Ofcourse it has undergone a couple of soft refurbishments since then. Also, the very new but the highly regarded restaurant is our Blue Ginger which is the only Vietnamese specialty restaurant in Delhi.

We hope you will be able to enjoy this experience when you are in Delhi next.

Thank you for your kind patronage of Taj Palace and look forward to welcoming you back soon.

With best regards,

We were starting our tour of India and arrived very late at night but were given very good service and were in bed in no time. Unfortunately we didn't have time to take full advantage of all that the hotel had to offer, but everything we experienced and saw was of the highest standard.
Breakfast and dinner dining was excellent.
The hotel is located in a quiet exclusive part of the diplomatic enclave.

We stayed here 3 separate nights whilst on tour - each room was totally different except for the luxury feel! The food and service were great as was the whole place. It is an oasis of calm in a somewhat frenetic city.

Room Tip: Better outlook at the back but all are very good.

We stayed here three times for one night during a tour. Fabulous welcome when we arrived, group check-in was handled very efficiently. The hotel looks a bit dated from outside, but inside it's very impressive - foyer is just what you'd expect from a traditional New Delhi hotel. The first time we stayed we had a traditional room that was very comfortable looking out over the gardens. Our last stay was on an upper floor and to our surprise was ultra-modern! Not sure if this relates to the price you pay, but if you're fussy either way then ask when you check in!
The Masala Art Indian restaurant is fabulous - the food was excellent and the service outstanding, happy to spend time explaining the menu and make recommendations. Main restaurant is very good too.
As it is in the diplomatic enclave there's no restaurants nearby so if you want to eat out a cab will be needed. Recommended.

Room Tip: Upper floors are more modern - but may be pricier.
