“Amazing hotel!”

Stayed 3 nights at the Imperial. Well located, this hotel features impressive grounds and a grand feel all around. The rooms are very spacious and the service was excellent. Great buffet breakfast every morning in a sunny room overlooking the grounds. And good choices for food

Oh my goodness, this place was really special. We stayed here during our recent trip to India and started and finished our trip in one of the best hotels we have ever had the good fortune to stay in. This place is an art deco delight with mostly brilliantly preserved architecture and artifacts, as soon as you arrive, the doormen greet you with a 'Namaste Welcome Home Sir/Madam' and it really is mother India at her best. We have stayed in some crackers over the years, but this was very special down to the last detail. We just had the cheapest room on offer and it was still really lovely. The public areas are beautiful, the bars are full of atmosphere and buzzing - you would feel comfortable either on your own or in a group. The restaurant was a lovely setting and nice food (Spice Route), the terrace for breakfast was glamourous and a haven in the middle of the chaos of Delhi. The spa was one of the nicest and the lovliest looking spas I have ever been to and the treatment was first rate. The staff were very kind and helpful and we really appreciated the service. If we were going to Delhi again, we would not go anywhere else, this place delivers on every level providing that you have an appreciation of architecture and history and are not looking for a souless brand new hotel with no character.

This really is a first rate hotel. Rooms are modern. Swimming pool was crystal clear and HOT - I swam in the mist and fog in the early morning. Restaurants - Spice Road is 1st rate - manager even took my 12 yr old back to show him the kitchen as he is a foodie. Also ate at Daniels tavern (which is NOT a tavern but a great Indian restaurant) The sitar players and entertainment were just right - not too loud! Breakfast buffet is the BEST I have ever had!! We stayed 3 nights. Also used the hotel SUV + driver for site seeing one day - great way to see many of ND sites quickly. Truly this is a great hotel - packed with historic prints of India. Security was high but there was a Pan Asian conference going on the same time. Lots of Europeans at the hotel while we were there; seems they are on to a good thing! The concierge really took care of our needs with simply requests - like train tickets to Agra, guide and car waiting etc !!

Room Tip: Rooms are huge and very well appointed.

First base on our first visit to India and it set the pace for all the rest. We were there in early January and it was colder than we expected but the Imperial made up for that with the impeccable service , fine restaurants, and luxurious comfort fo the rooms. We usually prefer smaller boutique hotels but the Imperial managed to create the ambiance normally associated with smaller establishments. Despite the tube works in progress just down the road it was a haven of tranquility. No hesiitation in recommending highly.

My wife and I just returned from 4 nights at the Imperial. This is an amazing hotel, but not without a few concerns. With several outings for dinners and drinks we probably saw 5 or 6 other of the "top" hotels in Dehli...but there was always a since of relief when we would return to the armed-guarded gates of the Imperial and were great by all of the friendly faces. I didn't want to leave. It's it's frozen in 1911 British-Indian luxury. The spa is out of a movie, the service is unmatched anywhere in the states, the food is welcoming, safe, and delicious. To be critical, as that's the point here, it seems they were constantly painting the hallways of the guest rooms. The lobby smells amazing, but the halls would almost affixiate you...a large over sight on their end. It didn't affect the rooms. The staff at the hotel are great, with the exception of those at the (beautifully large) business center. There was always something... staff-bickering, unknowledgeable about systems, etc. They were really the exception though. Be sure to take advantage of the concierge. Really above and beyond. Also find your favorite driver and always request him (I suggest Deepak, tell him his friend from Hollywood says hello...he'll take care of you). The streets of Dehli are harrowing enough, having someone you feel safe with is super important. He will also drive you to Agra...which is really the best option if you are going. I did Dehli as a tourist, your results will vary...though I'm sure The Imperial will continue to stand the test of time.

Room Tip: Ask to see a few rooms...it's only a 3 story place, all of the views are not created equally.

My mum and I stayed in this hotel in September 2012 and it was the perfect beginning to our first trip to India. The interior of the hotel is opulently decorated with marble floors and innumerable wall hangings that give the place a very luxurious yet comfortable ambience. The pool and dining area outside are well-maintained. The whole place was an oasis after long days of sightseeing in scorching sticky Delhi weather. Our favourite experience was the breakfast buffet each morning. There was an amazing array of breads, pastries, yoghurt-type drinks, nuts, fruits, and an omelette station as well as a selection of Indian foods, all beautifully presented. I was a little anxious about how my mum would adjust to the food as she is quite fussy and mostly vegetarian but she just couldn't stop raving about the taste and quality of the food. The only con would have to be the the rooms which are dimly lit and quite stuffy, beds are not the most comfortable, though I didn't have any problems sleeping. Overall, would definitely come back though request a different perhaps more open plan room.

On arrival at the Imperial, we were greeted with 'welcome home' and sets the tone on how they make you feel. The service was impeccable, the breakfast had everything you could wish for and more, and the rooms were lovely despite no view whatsoever. There were 2 drawbacks. The first is that there was no heating in the room or bathroom, which is probably ok most of the year, but in January it was freezing. We were given an electric room heater, which I moved around to heat the bathroom, and I think most of the hotel needed the extra heaters. For a top hotel of this quality it is unbelievable that the air conditioning does not heat as well as cool, and it is essential that this problem is rectified. For that reason alone I gave the room and sleep quality only 4 stars, and I would never go back in January. I also chose this hotel over others because I was told it was central and one could walk to the shopping. This was not the case, and with the extensive works building the metro, one couldn't really walk anywhere; this situation is likely to last a long time.
As far as the facilities are concerned, the gym was adequate albeit lacking some crucial equipment, but unfortunately the heated swimming pool was closed. The spa and beauty salon were excellent.
All the restaurants were excellent. In particular don't miss The Spice Route which is one of the top restaurants and ask for an explanation of the restaurant which is fascinating.
Helpful tip: Instead of using the hotel car, there are reliable taxis in the hotel grounds. I used one, and the taxi driver was fun, informative and most helpful. It is also the cheaper option.
One of the party was suddenly taken ill, and a good doctor arrived within an hour; his fees were very reasonable.
I would return to this hotel, but not in the cold season.
