Description: Dhaba is the name given to the popular road side restaurants in India, usually located along highways. Dhabas traditionally dish up local cuisine and also serve as stops for trucks. The word "Dhaba" has been derived from "dabba" meaning a lunch or a Tiffin box. Typically, dhabas serve delicious and spicy Punjabi food that is loved and savored by millions across the globe. Well, times have changed and though the traditional Dhabas remain as popular, still a Dhaba with an urban twist was always on the cards, so we devised the concept of Rang de Basanti Dhaba. Rang de Basanti Dhaba is a modern take on the traditional concept of dhabas. The name is inspired from the free will and independent spirit that personifies the youth of the country today - an attitude in which nothing is impossible. The phrase "Rang De Basanti" was a unifying cry, symbolic to the Indian Independence movement. Though its essence may not be as relevant this day, it still resonates with the spirit to be free, the spirit to "be". The Urban Dhaba with the Desi Tarka reverberates with the notion of a contemporary desi eatery that embraces the entire spirit of India, from its rustic essence to a modern India that is colorful, joyous and full of life. The same essence is found in the food we serve, which reflects our quintessential appeal and brings a perception of ecstasy that is pertinent to the very soul of the Rang De Basanti Dhaba. Our kitchens are modern and hygienic. The air-conditioning is sharp and effective. As for the rest, it's still your very own dhaba in a modern garb. There's original brick flooring much like a dhaba, a life-size tractor which is a quintessential part of every rural home in India and cuisine that promises to makes you relive that rustic experience of a dhaba. At the same time, our kitchens are equipped with the most modern and hygienic features, LED lighting and a bronze-mirrored bar with golden hues which is highly contemporary. The rustic look and feel is maintained with the presence of a jazzy tractor along with the contemporary decor and ambient lighting. Bollywood is an important part of Rang De Basanti Dhaba, as evident with the contemporary Bollywood music doing the rounds at soothing decibels that keeps the conversations flowing. Wear what you want ... Burst out in laughter, shake a leg, eat, drink and be merry; you are welcome to be free. Indulge in some great North Indian food at prices that are very......Indian!

“Surprisingly Yummy!!!”
Reviewed May 12, 2013

This place was a total delight in every way possible; be it decor, ambiance, taste or service, I will surely give RDBD 5 stars for all!!! I went to Sarojini Nagar with my family and we had decided to have food at Haldirams, but just the decor of this place attracted us to eat here. Usually, I have always been disappointed with these fancy places, which claim to offer authentic dhaba food, but this time I was amazed. Their Chicken Curry is lip-smacking!!!! I was actually trying to put every drop of the curry left on the spoon ;) This place surely beats biggies like Pind Baluchi and Punjabi by Nature hands down!!!!

“Amazing restaurant, a must visit.”
Reviewed May 2, 2013

After a tiring shopping experience at Sarojini Nagar, all we could think of was a sumptuous meal with some cold shakes. The new DLF Mall looked pretty inviting with various food options. RDBD attracted us with it's color, tractor and not to forget, amazing combo offers.

We ordered one special Thali. The quantity was just perfect for a person and tasted amazing. My friends ordered butter chicken, boti-din-raat and they couldn't stop raving about it! The breads were crisp and fresh. Watermelon juice, rang-de cola, and aam panna were amazing drinks.

The interior is very funky, cool and refreshing, specially for tired feet! Service was a little slow but we couldn't care less. We clicked lot of pics on the tractor and what fun it was!

I will definitely visit RDBD again with my family too. Kudos the team.

“Great Food, Service and Ambience!!!”
Reviewed January 17, 2013

A must visit if you are looking for a slightly laid back evening coupled with some amazing food and service standards... With a fairly basic look, soft music and well spread out seating, made for a great start... We went with the recommendations, especially the Tandoori Chicken and the Fish Amritsari and couldn't stop licking our fingers... Even otherwise, the portion sizes are significant (luckily they have the option of half plates) and the RDB Special drinks taste great (quantity may be something they could increase)... Overall, a great experience!!!
