As you know India is not known for the glam side of life. However, this little jewel will allow you to imagine you are anywhere you want to be. Once you clear the cluttered alley and the rickety elevator you might as well have walked into Bel Air. The food, the ambiance, the service, the dessert is all unbelievable. It is a bit pricey, especially for the backpackers, but what a treat!

My whole experience of Amour has been such a mixed bag that I will split it into stark positives and negatives.Starting with the positives - it has a fabulous vibe and great ambience. The food quality is also above average but you'll be expecting that, given the steep prices.Desserts, esp. baked ones are superlative. The 'volcan cake'(of the snack menu) is exceptionally addictive and makes you crave for it once you leave. The gelatos are also superb. Now the negatives - the portions!! I ordered ravioli and pasta off their dinner menu, the portions were really not enough to satisfy 1. There were 5 pieces of ravioli laid out on an appretizer plate. We had to order more to not leave hungry. The menu itself is very limited , especially for vegetarians. This is disappointing, considering this is India and most people are vegetarian. They had a 'snack menu' outside of meal times. It lists down pizzas with odd/exotic names(not italian) and the menu does not contain their descriptions so you mainly rely on the waiter to describe them to you which is not helpful. The spinach pizza we ordered was too dry and lacking any flavor whatsoever. All in all, Amour may be a good place for a romantic dinner when food is not the prime consideration but wouldnt recommend going there for food as its really not value for money, given its bite sized portions and steep prices.

Went for lunch on a winters afternoon to Amour at the Hauz Khas Village...sat out on the terrace overlooking the lake...the ambience was great and so was the food! For starters had the pumpkin soup and followed it with a leafy salad. The pizza was thin crust and full of flavor...the Basa fish we ordered tasted good but smelled a bit fishy! The grilled chicken platter was done to perfection and we finished the meal with the molten chocolate volcano...all in all a good meal indeed!

The patio-terrace of this charming restaurant in New Delhi's trendy Hauz Khas village overlooks the Hauz Khas archaeological complex and lake. One could spend hours in this area and still have lots to see, which makes Amour's casual setting and leisurely pace of a good southern-European meal a perfect complement to the surroundings.

We had a soup, a light starter, fish, pork and dessert. Each dish delivered a different kind of culinary flavor and the experience was most satisfying. The service was unhurried but never sloppy, pretty much reminiscent of one's European experiences.

Given the price tag - about $80 for 2 with very little alcohol, probably best for occasions.

We went to Amour a couple of weeks back. It has beautiful ambience but the service was just terrible. The staff was rude and brought our food after 1.5 hours of ordering. They would not cancel the order when we asked them since it took so long. They just verbally apologised and did not give a discount for bring our food after 1.5 hours and the main course after another hour and that too at different times. The food also was nothing exceptional. It was just ok and really small portions.
Absolutely sucks!! Hauz khas has many other restaurants with great ambience and better service.
