My wife and I recently had a meal at the Golconda Bowl restaurant. It is located in a nice area of restaurants and shops, but can be somewhat difficult to find. Nonetheless, we had read great reviews about the restaurant and were determined to eat there. The restaurant had a nice interior and knowleadgable/prompt service. Despite the ambience and great service, we left the restaurant with a feeling of dissapointment. Everything that we ate had the same exact taste. That taste was the sensation of fire in your mouth and nothing else. We realize that Indian cuisine will be somewhat spicy, but it should still be enjoyable. Furthermore, even if a dish has some spicy pepers, I should still be able to taste other flavors and ingredients. This was not possible, because the taste of the spicy pepers overwhelmed any other subtle flavors that might have existed. The quality of othe ingredients was good, but this single fatal flaw has ensured that we will not be enjoying another meal at this restaurant. We had meals at other Delhi restaurants and this was different. I hope that the restaurant's management can make adjustments for tourists who do not want to eat fire for lunch. There is a difference to having a meal with a little bit of kick to it and a meal which is completely overwhelmed by spicy ingredients (no taste/flavor, just a continous burn).
